Absolute revelation! Haven't gone more than 3-4 days without a drink and a smoke in about 15 years and smoked and drank usually about 4 nights a week.

Thought I'd give it a go and I'm glad I did. I'm now 2 weeks in and already have more energy, am more productive, look healthier, have more money and enjoying my food much more than I did before.  And best, and strangest of all, my mood
is happy and stable. When I was drinking I would have mood swings from happy to feeling depressed. Now I just feel upbeat all the time.

I will find it tough to stick with it, but I've just got to try my best as the difference is amazing. I would recommend everyone who drinks give it a go.

WD Happy

I quit smoking about 7 years ago, I have manic depression and was  on some very heavy duty meds between 2000-2006 no way I could see I'd be med free if I still smoked.

Beer is my issue, I just love a few cans and pi$$ing about on Youtube etc.

I have weight to shift and it falls off and I feel fantastic when I don't drink, then 4 days in I get a niggle Sad

I'd agree though with most of what you say though treble. Although there was yet more research this week that small amounts of wine prevents heart disease, but in moderation.

Unlucky for all those who opened this thread expecting to find out how to get 2 weeks worth of booze and ciggies for free.

I've done 19 days smoke and drink free.  Hope the non smoking is permanent.  Going TT until April 12(Brighton marathon day) all being well, but might weaken and try and programme in a couple of timely drink sessions such that they don't interfere with training.  Feels great of course, everyone knows that.  Eat more healthily, lose weight, don't smell of booze, don't smell of ****, more productive at work, keep the house more tidy, save money, don't cancel appointments, more reliable, feel better in the mornings, get up earlier, sleep better, taste the food more, can run quicker and longer etc etc etc.  We all knew this would happen but the spark is gone and no one can convince me that isn't the case.

Exercise is good no doubt but if you exercise it produces a lot of free radicals in your body, your body naturally combats them with endogenous antioxidants but the more food and fruits in particular rich in Vitamin E and A to repaid damage to cells the better

I've tried being teetotal, it's obviously beneficial on many levels ......but it's boring when everyone else is going out and getting loaded

I love drinking, smoking and gambling. Nothing better than fumbling for your racecard to remember which horses you've backed in the stewards cup as they approach the final furlong while smoking a **** and trying not to spill your pint on your linen suit.

I've also not drunk since new year. Where's my congratulations, I feel left out :)

One warning, if you've not drunk for weeks then have just a few, it's like you're hit by a bus as the tolerance you were used to will have gone. There was a story in the papers today about a Labour MP who didn't really drink, drunk shots in Poland at a meal to be "social" and died. So .. be careful!

WD treble.

A few years ago I went several months without drinking, or feeling the need to drink. (My moniker is way outdated). One day at a wetherspoons I had a meal with the free drink option. I used to sample a pint of tuborg 4.6% but as I was on the wagon I thought I would try an alcohol free bottle of becks. Not only did it taste carp it also gave me a craving for the real thing. The following weekend I was back on the lash. That's the perils of alcohol in all forms. I can report that I have now been dry for 8 months. While good things have come of it I feel miserable (without darts on the box/stream). I found the swim n sauna sessions to be a great help for a healthier lifestyle. Keep it up treble. Cool

been off drink since dec 2th and felt much better for it. Not been feeling that great lately and think its due to stopping completely rather than just cutting down

gave liver a break for a month and plan on doing this twice a year

having my first drink of the year tonight and enjoying it. Just going to drink every so often and enjoy it rather than it becoming the norm

well done to treble and others who have refrained
