The main reason to allow free movement of labour and immigration in Europe is to bring down wages.

I'd say the plan is working very well.

I don't know where that leaves the Labour Party who pretend to represent the workers because they're as keen on it as anybody.

Get used to low wage Britain because it's here to stay.

I've just seen this program and it really sickens me how they can get away with exploitation of workers that they do.

Nothing will be done about it of course but I urge anyone who hasn't seen it to take a look and watch how this filth exploit the working class.

Wages have been stagnant in the private sector , from the high end to the bottom, for 10+ years thanks to free movement of labour and mass immigration which suits both parties for different reasons.

This is what happens when people are not united and organised in unions.

we don't need unions and little trots thinking they run the country not the elected government, all we need to do is have extrememly strict rules re anyone not born here wanting to work here, other countries do it so there's nowt stopping us except the EU , but we could leave that tomorrow if we chose, any treaty is just a piece of paper that only hold weight while you agree it does.

Just watched it.  What is the point of having supposedly minimum wages if they can be so easily by-passed.

Looking at the tactics used, there needs to be an enquiry into the dodges.  I hope the programme sparks one.

The £150 pw NI employers threshold needs to be sorted as it encourages firms to offer part-time work when usually people want full time.  Also, probably encourages people to rely on working tax benefits.
It seems that the catalyst for a lot of the dodges are agencies - so they need to be sorted.

And zero-hours hardly had a mention...

so pawras, if the UK leaves the EU and no more foreign workers are allowed to come here the low pay problem will solve itself?

So the Government not only makes up the low wages of many of Tesco's workforce it now appears that Tesco do their utmost to avoid paying tax at the expense of the said workers.

Tiptheodds - not completely but the job market, like any other, is largely a matter of supply and demand, and at the moment there's too much supply and ergo wages in the private sector have been largely stagnant for over a decade.
This suits both parties :-
Tories – low wages are good for a company balance sheet
Labour – immigrants are more likely to vote labour and so are those dependent on the state.

Crackpot tory rears self importance head. Without a workforce there would be no company business to stiff its employees and cream off obscene profits. Whatever happened to wealth distribution?

P.S. What elected government?

Fk wealth distribution , I’ve yet to hear single decent argument as to why others are entitled to stick their hands in my pocket.
Permie employees take no risk , companies belong to those who take the risk in setting them up and running them.

But any company large or small shouldn't have it's wage bill subsidised by the tax payer

That was my point really put very badly though.

We employ more people than ever.

Thanks to the foolishness of mass immigration we have 'an employers' market' where they need make no effort to look after staff.

Fewer available workers would lead to higher wages as employers compete to employ anyone who can breathe and then retain them.

Over simplification I know but it really is basic economics. Flood the market with potential employees, wages stagnate or fall and corrupt employers come to the fore.
