The most annoying thing about the US is that for over 50 years the government and a sizeable majority of the US population seem to think they have a god-given right to interfere (overtly or covertly) in the affairs of other countries (including their allies). This more than anything else is why they are so hated around the world.
Their obsession with The War Of Independence when they never seem to acknowledge that in effect they lost the Second War Of Independence. And fake t1tties everywhere. In fact swap them around. I'm more bothered about the fake t1tties.

The USA was originally a British colony, at the time of the War of Independence or American revolution
most of the Americans were of British stock
(later on the USA became much more European)

the americans are decent people. but i have three problems with them-
1. too much nationalism.
2. too many evangelical christians. i dont like religion. secularism is the way forward.
3. the gun culture - this is something i will never understand.

Of course you'd reverse the roles ebul. You have to convince yourself you've got a chance to get into the ring in the first place. Doesn't alter reality though and it doesn't matter if you lose the battle as long as the war is won or your aims are secured. Both sides went into the war with aims and the British emerged the stronger for it with their key aims secured and even the yank scholars conceded that was the case. Of course the average American thinks it all went peachy because that is their nature. Give it another hundred years or so and Vietnam will have been a stirring victory against the odds.

The USA attacked Canada, but with our help, the Canadians defeated them. So Canada won. They established themselves
as an independent country that was strong enough to defend themselves against the USA.
But we attacked the USA. With the intention I assume of bringing the USA back into our empire. But we were defeated, we had
to sign a peace treaty, the USA emerged as a country strong enough to defend themselves against Britain. It confirmed the
result of the American revolution.
So Canada and the USA were both winners in a sense, we lost.
Although I do not believe we could have re-imposed the trade monopoly we used to have on the USA before the revolution
I feel the British Empire would have been stronger if it included the USA.
I think it was a tragedy we lost the USA, I think we lost them too early.

If it was not for the Majority of The British Forces fighting Napolean around the time, America would be in the British Empire.

What a bunch of miserable and charmless creatures the British are...The US have achieved more in science art music and technology in the last 200 years than any nation in the history of mankind. Pipe down and look at what a **** nation Britain has become.

consider how much the u.s.a.supplied the rest of the world with as lend lease during the second world war . it's absolutely staggering .

i think we have a massive chip on our shoulder as a small nation and this thread speaks volumes.

Britain is lucky to be a small nation, big nations = big problems.
The yanks are often stereotyped and often unfairly so. For instance they have a great sense of humour from my experience, a quality largely lacking in our european neighbours. The one reputation they do deserve is their lack of knowledge about the rest of the world geographically and understanding of it politically. And I am not talking about their leaders but the average man in the street.
I can't stand that Wikipedia thing they have created. And to create it without asking for taxpayers permission and of course their money, that's out of order.
So why don't the Russians like them Coach?

Not really, although I do see the distinction. It's not the 'American system' that chants 'USA! USA!' which certainly helps fuel the dislike.
The USA have been very courteous, both players and supporters, in the ryder cup, unlike the british and irish rabble.
obviously you get good and bad in all nationalities - maybe look more at the individual person rather than write off a whole nations people .
