I see no reason to suppose that that your WW2 ally will also be your Ally in WW3. In many cases the alignment of nations was totally different in the first two events, so why wouldn't the next one be a new set of players on the different teams? It almost certainly WILL be.

Our side naydam is pretty predictable.
The interesting thing, for lack of a better phrase, will to be to see who forms coalitions against us.
Hopefully will never happen but who knows.

Predictable?  You've more confidence than me. Who would be your idea of 'our side'? WW1 'sides' were very different to WW2.

I suppose we would have to see how it started, who started it and who sided with them.
But I'm sure that given the opposition we could name our side as it were.

But that doesn't count. They aint been against any CL teams.
WW3 will only start if someone attacks America, and I don't mean a terrorist attack but a country declaring war, or takes an action that is deemed to threaten America.

To be honest I think the biggest unknown is predicting WHY it starts. Could be religious, but not very likely imo. Could be oil. Could be food. Could be a recession. Or it could be sequence of relatively unimportant events suddenly erupting...a bit like WW1.

The wealth and security of leaders in the most powerful nations makes the idea of war unpalatable to them. Putin is a bit of a bastard, but he's not a fanatic. We will doubtless get involved (and by that I mean kill people) in many less powerful nations, but the idea of global war is pretty much unthinkable whilst we are so prosperous and democratic. If some major tragedy happened...and if it would have to be REALLY major, then perhaps...but if you look at how smoothly we rode out the recession...

World Wars are so last century.  A true world war would last about a day.  You're gonna have to make do with terrorism.

OK, Italy changed sides a couple of times, and I think Croatia and Romania swapped for economic reasons, but the main players stuck with
their original teams.

Wasn't Japan one of the UK allies during WW1?

It was mecca, but only so it could take parts of China with a german influence, and a couple of German islands in the pacific.
They were basically "spivs" who were on the lookout for some easy pickings from being our ally.

Japan was dominated by their right wing military which eventually took them into a disastrous war with the Allies in WW II.
