He was Dozy, so just Beaky, Mick & Tich left.

One of the very first singles that I bought (or had bought for me to be precise) was DDDBM&T's 1967 smash "OK" on the Fontana label.
And to this day I prefer the B-side called "He's A Raver". Not a lot of people know that. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LPRN76_rkOM |

I've listened to that 3 times alun to get a proper feel. Catchy.

I liked the slightly lesser known psychedelic offering, Last Night In Soho.

I'm pleased the above piece mentioned the colossal "The Legend of Xanadu" (complete with electronic whip crack sound, which the infant Alun2005 would impersonate with a metal measuring tape), but why oh why haven't they mentioned the sublime "The Wreck of The Antoinette" ???

Xanadu was the only number of their's that I could remember tbh.

Just remembered Bend it. I'm sure I'll remember others.

Saw them when they were Dave Dee and the Bostons, at a holiday camp in the early 60's. They gave my family autographs and a photo. Good guys.

Until they started on the drugs.
|
|

They were well ahead of their time. I think their first hit was an ode to what was to become Viagra, called You make it move!
I hope adds to the pop music edumacation of you my fellow forumites. |

You should take a break from it now and then.
Maybe that's why Muslim blokes are wearing Burkas? |

Mr Leopard-Que???

Slicer....are you wearing a Burka now to hide your viagra-ed extension?
|
|
By:
He's really lost it this time.

Oh I see!
I have no use for Viagra. I am so old, my equipment shrivelled up, died and fell of years ago from lack of use. I hope this clarifies the matter. |
|
By:
Oh well.
|
|
By:
Did you bury it in the garden?
|
|
By:
No. I didn't want to have to water and fertilise it to grow again!
|
|
By:
Maybe we get you a transplant....what size would you like?

bbc article said more weeks in charts than beatles between 1965-69.
If they did surely a lot of bands did too. |
|
By:
Probably because the Beatles were more of an album group, whereas one would be hard pushed to name any albums by DDBM&T, with them being a singles group. I remember the Beatles having albums in the Top 100 singles charts at a time before album charts!
|
|
By:
Indeed Dr, and their EPs getting in the top 10 easily.
|
|
By:
I got several Beatles EPS.
I also got one Searchers EP . |
|
By:
Loved The Searchers, 2 out of the 4 originals are still playing, plus one almost original, Frank Allen.
|
|
By:
The Searchers early work were Jackie De Shannon covers. She was a great writer.

That's from last month. The guy on the right, John is an original. Frank in the middle joined in '66. Mike the original lead singer fronts his own Searchers band. |
|
By:
She was indeed Dr, and a good looker too.
|

They must get fed up of singing Needles and bloody pins though.

Kenny and Young Slicer
While we are reminiscing, what's your favourite single by Valerie Singleton? "Solomon's Centipede" for me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bk5ZwJRWlN8 |

And here we see the Great Woman having a close encounter with DDDBM&T on Blue Peter

I think young Dr slicer is the same age as me. I didn't know Val had made any records, but remember her admitting to a romp with Peter Purvy, Albert Finney and Joan Armatrading. ![]() |

it said on the radio he got the name Dozy because he once opened a chocolate bar and ate the wrapper and chucked the chocolate out of the window

We've all done it. Now I go and pick them up and deposit them in the bin. Rebel turned into Victor Meldrew.
