Did she choose to do the boat race ahead of the Grand National? Maybe she doesn't want her vast, octopus-like dominion - adverts, books, radio, chat shows, balsam cultivation in the Himalayas - to be damaged by bad publicity from any possible horse deaths.
Elsewhere, it's been mentioned that Jeremy Kyle might present the National coverage. He would be a good choice IMO as he's so enthusiastic about racing...problem gambling aside...

I will be working on the day of the Grand National and will have to record it.

Yeah - that is stupid and embarrassing, Aka - not just for Celtic fans but for the paper too. Apart from anything else, if there is trouble at the game, it could be part of the blaming and finger pointing that will take place.
