More of a thin fattie myself, but all kinds of fatties welcome on here Laugh

Started off at 12 st after xmas. Looking to drop 8 pounds.  A good start made this week in exercising and diet. Am using myfitnesspal website (free) and it helps a lot to log my food for the day. Laying off the chocolate is going to be tough after consuming so much over xmas!

Anyone else looking to lose some?

Forgot to add, my goal is about 0.5 pounds per week. I was originally thinking about a pound a week, but thought for my size that might be a bit quick - anyone well versed in the best speed to lose pounds etc?

I started 2014 at about 12 and three quarter stone.  got down to about 11 and a half stone by summer, which is about my fighting weight.  Back up to about 12 stone now.  hope to get down to 11 stone by 12 April, Brighton Marathon.  1 pound per week.  Diet consists of no drinking, no smoking, lots of eating(generally healthy food but in obscene quantities) and about 1500+ calories/day of exercise.

Good luck Hank.

Cheers Rob,

Good luck for your marathon. I had to postpone my training if you remember. Not sure how this year will go - but then who does?! Definitely want to at least get in to decent shape and take it from there. Ultimate goal though is to be fit enough to start Krav Maga at the end of the year. Wanted to do it for years, so now is the time.

I know this doesn't apply to Hank or Rob as they're fit blokes anyway but if anyone is looking in on this thread and is interested on taking up exercise but doesn't want to pay for gym membership, equipment or anything else, the NHS
has a free internet strength and flexibility programme, as well as one for running.

I have no idea if the podcasts are any good as I've not done them myself (and have only just found the page while looking for something else) - but it's free and might be of use to some:

lol xmoney - I did say it was open to any kind of fattie Silly

Madvlad - ok yeah I am not looking to lose a whole load, but mine is not a healthy look right now - too much on the belly lol. As I am only 5'9 I certainly wouldn't want to be losing too much anyway.

Nice one Tommy - that link may well help someone get going. Hardest part is the first step etc

Have you ever thought about taking up squash Hank? Your local leisure centre that has courts will have a league. Start off at the bottom and ease yourself into it, that will get you fit and once you get going it's very addictive and the pounds will drop off.

My brother did that slippy. Started at the lowest level and got pretty good. I fear a game of squash would kill me right now Laugh Cricket in the spring for me and then krav maga later in the year. Have to pick and choose my hobbies/sports or the wife would never see me - hmm on second thoughts Laugh

Well cricket is the worst for that(time away from family) and squash one of the best (most games are only 40 mins.). And you will burn more calories during a 40 min game of squash than a five hour game of cricket.  Could do park run, I am hoping to do the Hove one tomorrow.  Can do that with the family too, my neice has been doing it since she was six years old.

Yes, you're right time wise Rob. My cricket matches are 20/20 and about 4 hours. Of course squash would be better, but I use the cricket as a time away from medical stresses at home. So, I won't be cutting that.

I used to love my cricket and would umpire a lot when I wasn't playing but it is a very time consuming hobby. I miss it though but having not played for 4 years my ability has probably diminished considerably with a shoulder injury that still is not right to this day. I can't lob the ball in from the boundary with venom like I used to be able to do sadly.

Not exactly fat yet, but I'm happy to say that I'm no longer underweight. My BMI is now 18.75, which was 18.0 in the autumn when I asked for weight gaining advice on this forum. Thanks for your almond tip back then Hank. I know almonds aren't nuts and nuts aren't almonds, but your almond tip made me think of and include various nuts in my diet, which I think has helped me gain a few kilos.

My best weight losing tip is probably to stop drinking sweet drinks (drink water instead!). I have a habit of looking at what other buy in the supermarket, and the fatties always buy sweet drinks.

Good luck with your weight loss!

Gadzooks Mr.Anderson, that is a very low bmi. I'm bang on 25 and I'm not exactly skinny. I drink 2 litres of water a day which diminishes my appetite but I eat pretty much what I want without putting on any weight. Walk Muttley about 30 miles a week and that helps as well.

Nice one Mr Anderson. I know exactly where it has come from. I have always drunk loads of water - hate tea and coffee. My vice is dark chocolate Devil and I can devour crisps like no one's business! Have done a full week of exercise and am starting to remember that good feeling that goes with it Happy

Went to the weigh-in tonight, put on a stone since christmasShockedBlush

Having noticed that obesity is now recognised as a disability, i estimate that a similar performance/gain over the next 12 months will have me on an income of around 30k, with fatty scooter and mobility car parked outside of the rent-free flat.

Will be a massive career lift for a guy on £8.50ph, was so determined when first reading this thread last week but will keep everyone updated as i eat my way to my target.

A mother and daughter who get 30k in benefits cos they are too fat to work.
Say they are happy cos it's the way they were meant to be.
They show no shame as they pose happily for photos.

Simple answer here. Stop all the benefits. If they can't afford food they'll soon lose weight and then be able to work again.

If you're craving chocolate, apart from sugar addiction, which it could be, it might just be that you are magnesium deficient, in which case some supplements would probably help. Alternatively, Lindt make 90 and even 99% cocoa dark chocolate - very very little sugar, the 90% has 14 grams of carbs per bar, which is miniscule compared to, say, Cadbury's Bournville at nearly 60 grams of carbs for the same weight.

I actually do eat Lindt FlowerMyth - lovely stuff Grin

Down to 11.5 now and 3 weeks in to exercising. Five more pounds should do it I think. Been quite a revelation logging all the calories and seeing exactly what I eat. How is the training going Rob?
