I CRB people who work for me. It will be long gone, anything not including going to jail for more than a certain period of time is wiped after I think six years. I had a drink driving conviction ten years ago, court, ban, community service etc and nothing showed up on my CRB. I wouldn't even mention it.

I think this suggests your caution will not show up in a check.

Not strictly true. ABH/GBH etc will still on your record even from 20 years ago regardless if you went to jail or not.

Cautions etc should be wiped along with section 90 and other minor codes of offence.

One warning though.  Don’t mess about with visa applications.  I told a few porky pies on my Australian visa app last winter regards criminal records.  Bloody copper stopped me literally as I had got past the last check and was walking up toward the plane.  Asked me a few questions, I lied again.  Then he took my passport away and returned a few mins later and asked me again, and recommended that I tell the truth this time.  I told the truth and he let me go but I was bricking it for the next week when I was in Indonesia thinking they weren’t gonna let me in to Aus, or perhaps not let me get on the plane at Singapore even.  Just walked through no worries in the end but it sh1t me up big time.  Still don’t know what that copper’s game was seeing as he didn’t effectively do anything even though he knew I had lied on my visa app.  Save yourself the hassle and tell the truth on visa apps.

I have a pal who met an Australian lass, he moved to Australia and was sponsored for a while, got married and now has Australian citizenship. However he has outstanding fines from 20 years ago for ABH,  he managed to slip under the radar regarding not revealing his conviction to Australian authorities.

Now he wants to visit the UK to see his old friends and family but keeps on bottling it in case he gets collard. I can`t see him ever coming back to visit now.

What about the interest?

No Slippy, the ABH is still there on the CRB and the default is also registered.

A defaulted fine would not appear on your criminal record

But the ABH does

The default will still be registered with the courts, if there is a warrant for unpaid fines and you leave the country do you think that the warrant becomes statute barred after 6 years?

His fear is that someone will grass him up once he gets back, is collard for fleeing the country with paying his court fines, the British authorities contact the Australian authorities and it all gets messy.

If it was say council tax there maybe a possibility a warrant may have been issued but it wouldn't still be on there now, no chance. ABH would though of course and rightly so.

What were the fines for? The ABH is the overriding factor here, regardless.
