......no common sense.

I bought a radio controlled speed boat for my grandson at Xmas.

So he decides that today is the day for a trial run (this was a week ago, because his diary is forward planned for a whole year,
based on when he has my grandson and when "Nettle Face" has him him).

I said this morning, that it will more than likely be a lost cause, because of the cold  but he was insistent it would be fine.

So I travel 56 miles in a car that only does circa 24 mpg whereas he travels only 10 miles in a car that does 60 mpg.

And guess what...... The lake has  15 mm of ice on it!

Hind sight, but I know I should have stayed here, and put the money, and  an hour and a half to better use....Angry

15mm is nothing.  You could have had that off in no time.  You could have chucked Nettle Face in.

Nettle Face didn't go with them to the lake Torquemada, it was his sons turn to have the  grandson.

It would have been like "The Titanic", against the size of this boat, so we had a walk in the woods instead.

Not much of a compensation, as I have my own woodland walk less than half a mile from mine, and a canal walk only a mile and a half away.

Sounds like nettle face may have had a point. One hopes the grandson was not as disappointed as the OP in having wasted a rare weekend with dad.

Sounds like you had to put your speedboat sailing plans on ice.

Absolutely B-B and that is what I will get him for his next birthday.

Having a grandson is a fantastic way to re-live all the stuff that you did as a child, without people nagging about the time and money you would spend if only doing it for yourself

Actually I thought it had been mild the last few days, I'm surprised there is thick ice anywhere?

Not his biggest fan but George Gallowway summed remarks like this up brilliantly.
He said - It's like being told to sit up straight by The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

So rude,  thick, offensive, uneducated and a nasty little troll, and chip on shoulder at anyone who put in the effort to get an educashyun - a typical cybernat!

Probably already on his second bottle of buckfast but beyter watch in case he gets too hammered to sign on tommorow afternoon? Laugh
