Five masterpieces to get you started:
1. I Want You Back 2. Got To Be There 3. Shake Your Body Down To The Ground 4. Wanna be Startin' Something 5. Earth Song |

I want you back.....the guy was a genius so young.
Billie Jean..... Kind of the ultimate pop song. Smooth Criminal....cracking I always think wacko deserved his place in the oantheon purely for his work in the Jackson 5. His first three solo albums were all great too. Whatever you may or may not think about him personally he was a musical genius. |

1 Ben
2 Say Say Say (with Macca) 3 Earth Song 4 Man In The Mirror 5 The Girl Is Mine (with Macca) for me |

Good grief.
By:
[Sorry kenny - and I don't want to fall out with you (again!) - but some of your musical choices in songs are so cr@p 'good grief' has to be uttered at times!]
By:
*ben is probably my favourite too
By:
Lol Tommy.
The Girl is Mine is cringeworthy. How could two such talented people make such dross. Blame it on the eighties. |
By:
By:
hahahahaha!!
Did kenny think Ben was about a cat and not a rat, perhaps?! |
By:
Ebony and Ivory
By:
ha ha Tommy, I know it was about his pet rat that his father killed in a trap and he was devastated. A brilliant song. He was a musical genius.

I heard that michael Jackson didn't like any of the jacksons songs compared to more recent songs by black boy bands. In fact it was common knowledge he preferred boys 2 men.

trivia about 'earth song' which will be of no interest to anyone except me
The drummer on that track is steve ferrone, ex awb and for the past 20 years drummer with tom petty & the heartbreakers ![]() |

Thanks Crisp, Tommy's musical views can be discounted. He thinks all 70s music is crap apart from the odd ones he keeps coming up with from this decade.

By:
Crisp at 00:08.

Ebony and Ivory was Macca and Stevie Wonder as you well know. A brilliant song.
By:
Very good fact is that, Nilsson.
By:
I know you can, Nilsson!
And it bloody well was, kenny! Anyone who thinks the 70s was a great decade for music must be round the bend! |
By:
Didn't say it was great but a lot of very good songs as well as the dross.

It was absolute muck for almost a whole ten years, with a few exceptions that in that 'only on the BBC era' were rarely heard.
You had to scour Radio Luxembourg and Tune in to TOGWT to even find anything purporting to music. |
By:
thought stevey was jacko
By:
Bob Dylan was good in the seventies.

The thing which you have to remember Rob is; if you were a kid in the 70s, poor, with only a cr@ppy old radio and the tv to hear any music on (because you certainly didn't have the means to buy a good radio and records) - you were almost totally at the behest of BBC in what you could listen to - which was their designated cr@p playlist on their radio stations and TOTP.
There was only Radio Luxembourg where you had any chance of hearing anything different than The Osmonds, The Bay City Rollers, The Rubettes etc etc etc of ultimate ear-curdling cr@p. |
By:
I quite liked The Osmonds and The Rubettes came out with 2 brilliant singles.

hahahahaha! You would think like that kenny!
By:
Couldn't give a fk about his private life, he was a brilliant musician. Not soft, ex pro boxer.
