Not to have a landline, as to expect people to ring your mobil, can't make my mind up.

Good question. Depends on circumstances. Too many imponderables for a definitive answer!

It's not rude.  It's your house, everyone else can choose whether or not to ring you.

When you get your landline, we will talk about this, I'm not bl00dy calling your mobile.Plain

My eldest daughter has a landline phone, but her, her hubby and my eldest grand-daughter have a mobile phone each. If the phone rings they all assume it's not for them as whoever it is would phone them on their mobile phone.

Youngest daughter has no landline phone, and relies on her mobile for all calls.

landline is needed for internet only really

and its cheaper to call babestation than from a mobile

LaughThanks for the tip.

My above thought was in case you had very elderly family, who have not embraced the mobile age & only use landline.

I don't have a landline. Waste of money these days.
Report Tommy Toes • January 3, 2015 11:54 PM GMT
I agree with Crisp.

What's the point in paying rental charges of £200+ a year for a landline when you don't need one?

It's just another ploy by the unscrupulous companies to keep bleeding money out of you.

Okay, I know some people don't have the option of getting internet services 'through the wall' - but if you do, it's just daft paying for a contract whereby you have to pay a landline rental.

I get quite a few calls from friends and family, so I would not get rid of my landline. Plus I use it for a good few 0844 numbers for which I have a special contract. But if you've no friends and don't get many family calls it makes sense not to have a landline.

not now old bean, about to turn in.

Not to mention all the calls from Microsoft advising of problems with our computers. People with no landline must have very broken computers.
Report kenny mann • January 4, 2015 1:48 AM GMT
They seem to have dried up. Not had one for maybe 3 months.
Report Joel • January 4, 2015 2:00 AM GMT
Same here actually, they were calling every day for a while but it probably was about 3 months ago they stopped here too.

I dont even know my landline number Blush

Have got a landline (for the internet) but don't have a phone plugged into it.  Everybody has a mobile these days and the only people that used to ring the landline were the PPI/Microsoft/"grants" people.
Report Coachbuster • January 4, 2015 12:58 PM GMT
very true - mostly pest calls so keep the phone switched off

can always plug it in to make calls to VMed or freephones etc
