Ron don't know how to beat roulette, it has a negative expectancy IE, zero, and no amount of staking variation can turn a negative expectancy into a positive one. Norman Leigh's 13 against the bank "TRUE" escapade against the Bank using a team to cover all evens shots with reverse La Bouchere, is a good read.

ron, our ahead in the game in 1 respect, you can see it has to change. all the best mate, i hope it works out well.
the one thing about betfair is to learn from every mistake and keep improving as a punter. if you keep improving you can start to turn a profit. wining a penny is better than losing a pound!

but the golden rule of betting imo is never drink & gamble,
i've no need for a bet when not drinking & just havent got the chase factor inside me, if i was drinking and lost a tenner id go to thousands to get that tenner back, but the sick thing is even if i did id still carry on expecting more around the next corner.....hand/spin ect
this isnt a bore fest about me, but the golden rule of betting imo is never drink & gamble,i've no need for a bet when not drinking & just havent got the chasefactor inside me, if i was drinking and lost a tenner id go to thousandsto get that tenner
But it is a good rule never drink and bet, especially you are gambling seriously
I always find I have an have an extra bet or two when I am drunk

its one of them rules you hear from when you basically start betting but for some reason think, yeah that don't really apply to me!
I Done ok for a lot of years, god knows how,
.....but the last 2 i've experienced winning 5 grand drunk in one night & tbh i wern't even botherd the next day & also experienced losing 5 grand drunk in one night & the pain of losing so much out weighs the winning.
Just imagine the levels of people doing their bo!!ocks on these on-line casinos!........i think on lucky nugget i was doing a re spin like every 10 seconds

I think the temptation of these sites Ron it so easy to win quite large amounts of money in an incredibly short time, and so easy
Sports betting by contrast is slow and difficult, especially if we put the work in and we can win nothing like as much, even if we do start winning, the bookies stop us getting a bet on
The problem with these on line casino sites as you have found out Ron, you can also lose large amounts of money all too quickly and easy as well

I was hardly ever out of casinos from 1976 - 2002 until I joined here in 2002. I dread to think what I lost but it must have been well in 6 figures. Haven't been in one apart from for a meal in 12 years.

....its getting harder an harder to stop now days your bombarded with emails, adverts on tv ect. proper in your face its wrong their allowed to adverise imo, its probably worse than smoking for ruining lifes but the government are obviously getting their chunk, at our expense.....as you say bg you've always got the possibility of a huge win in mind when thinking of playing.....i still think there bent, i reckon they monitor & simply put you on a max win % so your like a lamb to the slaghter.

Cold turkey Ron, that's what I did. I was however helped by the fact that I'd started making money on here so thought what's the point in giving it back. Tomorrow is a good day to start. Good night and good luck.

kenny, "a good read yes, but still a load of boloks mate." I completely agree, but it's entertaining. I don't believe that the events took place as described.
I got "banned" from London casinos in the 70s because myself and a mate used a staking plan I had devised, we did not win a great deal, £216 per night was our target, We both had good jobs and the unsocial hours used would have earned us both much more than the poxy £108 each that we got when we won. and when we had losses the were very small and took over 4 hours before calling it a night.
My mate bumped into a croupier from Silks (The Sportsman Tottengham court rd)that he knew, he told him we weren't banned because we won a poxy few quid, once or twice a week, it was because the 2 seats we occupied (necessary for the "system")where worth X amount per hour to the casino, and we were denying them the expected revenue.
Looking back, a complete waste of time but we were young, and stupid, Incidentally The Playboy club in Park lane, was useless to us as you could not get near the tables unless you were there from early evening, because of Arabs and prostitutes. AAAAHHH the good old days.

I thought I had 30 friends for a minute, given the number of posts.
Thanks to those who posted before the great roulette chat, those in the middle of it, and those after it (that's Schubert)
see wot I dun there...
Okay, back to facking roulette then.

a friend and myself also had a system BTF which we called the plodders system. We used to go to the Derby casinos in the 90's, and a more unhappy bunch of table staff would be hard to find anywhere. We used to study the croupiers and the wheel spins, and many of them used to get into such a monotonous routine they were banging the ball in pretty close to where it fell last time, what we used to do was cover the 6 numbers either side of where it last fell. Obviously you got the odd bad bounce off the wheel but on a good night we were hitting it 4 out of 5 spins, it took them ages to work it out then they started speeding up the tables so we couldn't get all the bets down or they changed croupiers on a more frequent basis. Made some good money though while it lasted.

No mate, loads of clever feckers out there, not many winning though. As said earlier no amount of stakes altering will turn a negative expectancy (the zero/house edge)into a positive one. It's mathematically impossible.
Slippy PM sent Yesterday.

No BB, read tons over the years, starting with "How to win at this and that" by Midas, he wrote for one of the Sunday papers. With games requiring no skill, such as Rouletts it's a losing battle against true probability.
Read a lot about "the man who broke the bank at Monte Carlo" he was an English engineer who realised that any spinning wheel has a bias. After much study in Monte Carlo he found the bias. As a result of his success, wheel changing became standard practice there.

Me neither, foxy. Basically the reverse system they used mathematically should have produced the same results as the origianl. Entertaining nevertheless.
I had some great nights in the casino and met and spoke with some very well known people, and most were very pleasant. I reccall probably in the Bradford Stakis mid 80s the ex great footballer John Charles came in with dozens of others all in dress suits and dickys. They'd been to the boxing night at the Hilton next door. George Best had been booked as guest speaker. This was in the days when he was notorious for breaking engagements. John Charles came and stood next to be on the roulette table. I've got to speak to the great man I thought, so I said "Did George Best turn up". Did he boloks was the reply. A conversation with one of the greatest footballers that ever lived about another great player. Not to be sniffed at.

it's a good read BTF and a true story. They were all maths and physics wizzards who built a computer that was built into a shoe, and this sent a signal to another person who was doing the betting. They measured the velocity of the wheel against the velocity of the ball and they could predict in which 6 number segment the ball would land. They had to do a lot of work because this was in the days before micro batteries and all the chips had to be programmed from scratch. Most of them ended up working in Silicon Valley.

All the stars came to the Bradford Casino after appearing at the famous nearby Alhambra Theatre as they stayed at the Victoria Hotel just over the road.
Chatted to Gerry Marsden while we were watching a football match, very pleasant he was too, also Bill Maynard who was equally nice. The biggest star was Stewart Granger but he was surrounded by heavies.

That story I'm familiar with, but not from the book, A similar thing is supposed to have been pulled off in "Card counting". I goggled to find the engineering guy, but only found Charles Wells, It was the late 60s when I read it, He had a long surname like braithwaite, (I know that's a place not a person)Yorkshire sounding, It's all a haze now, sometimes can't remember what I did yesterday.

Peter Fairley (had to look the name up) Science Editor for Independent Television News and TV Times magazine in the late 1960s and early 1970s, was always in The Sportsman (Silks mentioned earlier.)in the early 70s running around the table like a demented Tasmanian devil betting on many different numbers each spin. Never once saw him win anything worthwhile.

Kinell BB is the penalty that severe, I'm gonna stop this "Little wheel" malarky. I have a rich mate who has a terrible stutter, gonna call to see if he wants to play snap for big stakes.
I'll get me smoking jacket.

I heard somewhere recently that a group of geeks are using miniature laser scanners to judge the speed of the ball and in roughly which area it will stop, and placing bets at the last possible second.
I've only played roulette a few times in a casino. That was in Calgary, Canada. I lost a few quid the first night, but had all the luck going on the 2nd night. The next two nights I ended up about level, but no big stakes at all, just playing for fun.
On the last night before we went to Vancouver there was a race meeting on the dirt track. Entry was free so we wandered in. I only had one bet, $50 on a 3-1 shot. The track is so small that even a 6 furlong race is over a lap.
I got lucky as the race was well dodgy.
My horse was last with half a lap to go, but every horse moved off the rails to let it glide through and win by an easy 2 lengths.
That was the first and last bet I had there.
