Just sitting here watching a "Carols From Kings" video and, for some reason, fondling my "Ear Lobes" and it got me wondering what are they for!
I mean, aside from punching holes in them to hang some glitter, they would appear to have no use whatsoever but, despite millions of years of evolution, why are they still here?

There are a few useless body parts. The tubercles in top of our ears, the coccyx is not needed, nor is the appendix and I'm not entirely sure why we need body hair. It serves no insulating purpose.

They have one useful thing i know of. There are two types, danglers and attached. If both your parents have danglers and you haven't then i would get a DNA test, likewise if both parents have attached lobes and you haven't, DNA test

Your ear lobes droop as you get older? There is not a chance in hell I signed up for that carry on, I'm still trying to get over my grey whiskers appearing out of nowhere ffs

I distinctly remember when I was a young pretty teenager, that mine were dead level with the bottom of my nose. Now they're half-way between the bottom of my nose and my mouth. ffs

Ear lobes may increase blood flow to the external ear so reducing the chances of frost-bite when out hunting.

A diagonal crease on your ear lobe is not a good sign,infact you should be wary of heart problems,if not already got them.

kenny, this is the strangest thing! Look in a mirror with your index fingers against the ear lobes. Now move your head up and down. You will see that your fingers, against the lobes, remain in the same position, but when looking down are higher against your face and, when looking up are lower against your face. So it's all about how you hold your head. Just lower it and your lobes will be back where you remember them! |

Ear lobes grow continuously (a well known fact) so that if they have chunks taken out fighting a sabre toothed cat then they can rebuild themselves....I reckon.

my neighbours son has those hideous feckin round plastic things in his ear lobes it reminds me of that tribe of people sting got pally with in the amazon jungle who had what looked like a teaplate in their gobs
