John William Cooper had already murdered two people, siblings Richard and Helen Thomas, when he appeared on Bullseye in May 1989.  He won through to Bully's prize board, but subsequently lost everying in the 101 six-dart challenge.  A few weeks later he shot husband and wife, Peter and Gwenda Dixon, in the face with a sawn-off shotgun from point blank range after stealing Peter's debit card and PIN number.

He also raped two girls at gunpoint after being released from prison.

He'll be looking at a 6 month sentence then for that catalogue of crimes. Still, out in 3.

He got 14 years for the first two murders, served 10 and was released.  Advances in forensic science then linked him to the 1989 murders just after bullseye and he was sentenced to life with no chance of parole.  In the meantime, though, he raped two girls at gunpoint.  A thoroughly despicable man.

Or as Jim Bowen would say 'super, smashing, lovely'.

In an age when Jimmy Savile and Rolf Harris have been airbrushed from BBC TV history, and black-coloured WW2 RAF dogs are remained in 'The Dambusters' less the sky falls in, it's quite an achievement for this Cooper character to be bouncing around on satellites, presumably for the rest of time.

I've just watched the clip on youtube.  He had a ridiculous mullet, so the signs were there.

When they lost, Jim Bowen took the pee a bit when the the screen came up to "see what they could have won."  Instead of the prize, there was four blokes kicking a ball about.

Cooper was sentenced for 14 years in 1998 (served 10 years) for burglary and robbery, enabling the police to collect further evidence against him.

Statistically, he's probably not the only murderer to have appeared on a game show.  I've got my suspicions about a bloke on Catchphrase today.
