I got the last five straight away, but the first two took me nearly all day to work out.  See how you get on.  The initial letter of each answer reads down to spell a seven letter word.

FRONT (__________) SUIT

SHEET (__________) CHAIN

FRENCH (__________) CAST

DUMB (__________) SERVICE

PIG (__________) MAN

EVEN (__________) PLATE

GAS (__________) KILLER

I don't know what's worse.....the fact you admit to being a Daily Star 'reader' or the fact it took you all day to get two of themLaughLaughLaugh

It's better than being a snob.

Used to be a Sun reader until, like most people in Liverpool, boycotting it after the Hillsborough tragedy.

I told you it was difficult.  Everyone on Chit Chat has been sweating over this overnight and nobody can solve it.
Report Vubiant December 28, 2014 3:26 PM GMT
Not blowing my own trumpet or anything but I think I might have it...
Report naydam December 28, 2014 3:59 PM GMT
Have you tried the clinic? Don't blow any more trumpets until you're sure that you are clear.  Sad
Report FlowerMyth December 28, 2014 4:52 PM GMT
I think I have it as well, but the second word I'm not sure about, though I do have an answer for it.
Report akabula December 28, 2014 6:21 PM GMT
Tor please put us out of our misery. I'm struggling with more than 2. Laugh
Report Torquemada December 29, 2014 11:09 PM GMT
Okay, I'll give you all a clue.  The 7 initial letters spell the word LAPWING.
Report acquiesce12 December 29, 2014 11:18 PM GMT
What goes through your mind when you pick up the Daily Star? I bet you rush to the shops in anticipation each morning wondering if your favourite page 3 girl has her t1ts splashed out today, 13 years of compulsory education wasted
Report Torquemada December 29, 2014 11:31 PM GMT
11 years.

I look at the tits first, then the sport, then the puzzles.  Don't bother much with the rest, unless there's more tits somewhere.
Report Torquemada December 29, 2014 11:32 PM GMT
And there's no need to be nasty just because you're stumped by a Daily Star puzzle.
Report Torquemada December 29, 2014 11:37 PM GMT
FRONT (LOUNGE) SUIT

SHEET (ANCHOR) CHAIN

FRENCH (PLASTER) CAST

DUMB (WAITER) SERVICE

PIG (IRON) MAN

EVEN (NUMBER) PLATE

GAS (GIANT) KILLER
Report Torquemada December 29, 2014 11:39 PM GMT
The reason I took so long to get it was because I mistakenly thought the answer to number three was OPEN and the seven-letter word was going to be SNOWING.
Report Dobbo December 29, 2014 11:39 PM GMT
gas giant?
Report acquiesce12 December 29, 2014 11:40 PM GMT
The reason why nobody answered it, is because it's an insult to our intelligence
Report Torquemada December 29, 2014 11:40 PM GMT
Yep, as in Saturn etc.
Report Torquemada December 29, 2014 11:41 PM GMT
I beg to differ, Acquiesce.  If you care to read the thread you will see otherwise.  If you knew the answer you would have answered, it's in your nature.
Report Torquemada December 29, 2014 11:43 PM GMT
Compared to you, Acquiesce, I'm like a walking, talking, Stephen Hawking.
Report FlowerMyth December 29, 2014 11:43 PM GMT
I also thought it was SNOWING with Front (Space) Suit, Sheet (Newspaper) Chain and French (Open) Cast. Ah well..
Report Torquemada December 29, 2014 11:45 PM GMT
NEWSPAPER is a great shout, FM.  I never thought of that one.
Report Torquemada December 29, 2014 11:46 PM GMT
In all honesty I had never heard of a sheet anchor, my wife got that one.
Report FlowerMyth December 29, 2014 11:50 PM GMT
Me neither, but I see it's right. Newspaper I was least happy with in mine but I was pretty sure French was Open, plaster never occurred Cry. Wonder what Vubiant had?
Report acquiesce12 December 29, 2014 11:51 PM GMT
