Not a film but Breaking Bad box set is brillant, treat yourself for xmas, wont be disappointed.

As compelling now as it was 19 years ago.

I found Oldboy (not the remake) a very pleasing alternative to the usual Hollywood dross.

saw Sightseers last week which was great if you like black comedies - if you like sub-titled films try Un Prophet - great prison film

Have you seen The Wizard Of Oz? Transported to a surreal landscape, a young girl kills the first person she meets and then teams up with three strangers to kill again.

sign up for netflix, get first month free, and watch Breaking bad via that method.  If you can do the whole lot in a month you get it for free.  £6 a month after that.

BB will probably be the best thing you've ever seen..It's very adictive.

Be prepared to miss everything else.

I've always dismissed tv dramas, but my housemate had signed up for netflix and she gave me the password.  I was just bored one saturday afternoon and thought I would see what it was all about.  Signed in, saw breaking bad and thought "i've heard of that, wonder if it's any good".  I watched it non stop until 5am.  Had done all the series within a fortnight iirc.  Only really got time for comedy on tv, didn't realise a tv drama could be that good.

Waste Land - A documentary film about a rubbish dump in Brazil.

I wasn't expecting much, but I thought it was excellent. People with nothing, living in terrible conditions, collecting recyclable materials for a living in a stinking dump, but always cheerful and full of class.

Two 'grey' films to watch that I would recommend  are 'Never Let Me Go' and 'The Road'...

If you got a few days to spare get stuck into 'The Wire'... five seasons, 60 episodes I believe...

For  festive family fun I would suggest "Funny Games", "Come And See" or "Katyn".

Underbelly is excellent for anyone not seen it. I have seen the first two series. True stories. The acting is superb. A good few years old.

if you have a bit of time try and find a torrent of Oz, without question the best tv series ever made, ive never met somebody who didnt agree with that having watched it through
