Another comedy masterpiece from Polly Toynbee

Never watched Downton Abbey, but I am sure it is as unrealistic as most historical dramas.

It is really difficult to imagine just how unpleasant life was in past times.  I suppose it generally got better as the centuries rolled on.

Being in service was probably not a doodle, but it was better in many ways than working down a mine or in fields.

But, who wants to watch a programme about misery on a Saturday night - whether it involves service or mining?

She makes a valid point about the widening gap between the rich and poor, but is too preoccupied with class when the inequality gap is about money.
