Acclaimed actress Billie Whitelaw, famous for her roles in films including The Omen, has died at the age of 82.
The Coventry-born star, who was made a CBE in 1991, worked in close collaboration with playwright Samuel Beckett, who described her as a perfect actress.
Whitelaw made her radio acting debut aged just 11.
The award-wining actress also played a starring role in The Krays and more recently appeared in comedy Hot Fuzz.

Sad news indeed - last film I saw her in was Hot Fuzz - filmed locally....remember seeing her arriving in her chaffeur driven limousine. R.I.P.
82. I can remember when she was a cracker. And talking of real crackers - Virna Lisi died this month. Sigh. As did Ernie Terrell, who Ali once thrashed. But I don't think Terrell ever fought Lisi or Whitelaw. But my mind isn't what it used to be.
Ernie Terrell gone! Shame. Ali gave him a right pounding, upset that he refused to call him Ali.
Excellent actress, very good as Violet Kray, as someone said, she was married to the actor Peter Vaughan, after that, she married the actor Arthur Mullard
