A YEOVIL man who was upset at being issued with a warning by a Welsh housing officer told her to "go back to Taffyland and sheep s****ing".
Philip Lee Burden had fallen out with his neighbours when he was given an injunction after complaints about his behaviour.
But when he became abusive towards her she became upset and the police were informed, South Somerset Magistrates were told.
Burden, 47, of St Thomas Cross, Yeovil, pleaded guilty to using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress which was racially aggravated during the incident on September 29 last year.
Christine Hart, prosecuting, said that Burden was being served with a civil injunction by a housing officer following complaints about his behaviour towards other residents.
"During this Burden was verbally abusive towards the officer, Penny Rollinson, who was Welsh and she became upset by this," she said.
Defending solicitor Chris Ivory said Burden had entered a reluctant guilty plea and felt that the whole incident had been blown up out of proportion.
He said: "It started with a neighbourhood dispute which went through the county court and had resulted in him being served with an injunction.
"Burden fell out with his neighbours and then felt victimised after trouble had been ongoing for around nine months.
"He feels as if he is a prisoner in his own home and has had to move out on three occasions after the police were continually called for the most innocuous of things.
"He did not actually realise she was Welsh but now knows that it was a derogatory comment to make towards another person."
The magistrates fined Burden £80 with £50 towards costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
Never thought I was racist about anybody really.... but, I have to admit (thinking about it) in all honesty that the welsh accent really gets on my t*t* (not quite as much as the 'Essex' twang - abysmal) the majority of these people are probably harmless enough .....until they open their mouth!

If anyone would like to insult my own Welsh Heritage, I'll undercut Penny and accept just £50 a pop for taking Pretendy Grievous Offence.
Given that BF has around 4 million customers, that should rake in £200 million or so, which should be most agreeable.
Trebles all round !!

An Eskimo breaks down whilst driving in Wales and calls the AA out. Welsh AA man comes out and takes a look. "I can see the problem" he says to the Eskimo, "you've blown a seal". "So what" replies the Eskimo, "you shag sheep".

Crispy, I can't recall where you live off hand but living in London it is like walking on egg shells sometimes. My brother is a senior policeman and the directives he gets are just beyond the pale. Untouchables...

So.....telling a welshman that he participates in bestiality is totally acceptable, but Whelan telling the Jewish community that they are very thrifty with they money is bang out of order.
Me very confused.

Read the story. If it's totally acceptable, why did S Somerset magistrates fine him?
As the poor man's lawyer explained, it was all a terrible coincidence anyway. The Yeovil man didn't even know the woman was Welsh when he told her to go back to Taffyland and sheeps****ing.

I can explain BettorBettor. No it's NOT ''acceptable''.. but most of understand humour without the presence of malice. Many nations and groups have some distinguishing features and characteristics.. such as Australian corks, French onions, German sauerkraut or Mexican hats - that's just the way it is so why not laugh along with the jokes?
