i dont think as many people re smoking now , not as many youngsters anyway, used to always get people hanging about asking can you get me smokes etc , not had it for a long time

You've answered your own question in the OP, it's an addictive habit. Never been on the dole and never likely to but I would imagine they need something to quell the stress of not only not being able to find a job but also being looked down up on in society usually by Tory supporting dipsticks - I hth

Poor people should be taught how to cook and brew their own booze.  Many grow thier own drugs, thats showing some enterprise.

homebrew probably costs more than supermarket beers these days

unless ofcourse you brew it in the bath and get maximum amounts , but a little barrel in your shed will be gone in a night

growing drugs is a money earner for sure , people charge £25 for 2gram of weed and its only going up

at my local Pedigree is £2.50 a pint

not bad , there is the odd place you can get for under £3 but not many these days

i remeber about 7-8 year back used to be £1.50 for carling/fosters in a certain pub or a half and a vodka/whiskey for £1.50

You can get Pedigree for £1.25 a bottle, Bass for £1 at Asda.

B-B, I went to pick up a prescription last week and as there was a 15 minute wait I popped into the pub across the road for a quick pint and a read of my paper, a pint of Amstel lager was £5.65. I hardly ever smoke but do have a bifter every now and then when I'm playing late night poker. Half an ounce of GV would last me for a month easily.
