Vilified? I think the CCDA sent to him to the gallows didn't they Shocked Laugh It was the blue hair I think, that and the shifty look in his eyes.

Report curious-cat December 9, 2014 4:29 PM GMT
someone on the CCDA THREAD even found his telephone number and rang it.

to be fair to the CCDA they had no chance of finding the murderer since he wasn't known about until later although there were those that said it was someone living nearby.

I think on the CCDA thread the original suspect was Joanna's boyfriend before switching to the landlord though this was largely led by the press.

Eight national newspapers have made public apologies today to Christopher Jefferies for the libellous allegations made against him following the murder of Joanna Yeates,

The titles - The Sun, Daily Mirror, Sunday Mirror, Daily Record, Daily Mail, Daily Star, The Scotsman and Daily Express - have also agreed to pay him substantial libel damages, thought to total six figures.

The solicitor for Mr Jefferies, Louis Charalambous, told Mr Justice Tugendhat in the high court hearing that the newspapers had acknowledged the falsity of the allegations, which were published in more than 40 articles.

Shows how easy it is for men to be convicted of sex offences now, on very little
or no evidence at all

Also how the general public lap up every lie that comes of the media
they never think for themselves

I argued long and hard on the football forum asking where was the evidence against Ched Evans?
most people were against me

Dodgy being a man now in our society...soon be enough to convict you of anythingSad

I think he gets damages, he went through an appalling time

Our media is really evil, it incites the most appalling hate just to sell newspapers

I think the Volvo facing the wrong way, the only thing near evidence

Someone must have lied there, so I assume they got the other bloke, who said it was the other way

I have forgotten it

I thought Pistorius was guilty though, he may be found guilty yet
although I don't like prosecution appeals, it is a very vindictive form of justice

there was plenty of evidence against him all right!
Report Hound-Dog-2 December 11, 2014 12:03 PM GMT
As a character study it was an excellent drama, the second-part tonight should also be very good - when he has to deal with his life and the destructive results after being vilified by the press.  He did go through an appalling time and what evidence did the police have on him,  it was more like arrest the local oddball.  A kinder description would be to call him eccentric, but no way did he ever deserve to get treated like that.  The press totally messed-up to wrongly focus on him as the main suspect ! And his quiet life as a retired schoolteacher was turned completely upside down.
Report casemoney December 11, 2014 12:25 PM GMT
Heard him on radio Re : This programme ,the guy who directs it is a former pupil of his ,who he started on his career while at school ..

He used to order films for the class to watch during lessons ,only reason he ordered them was because he wanted to watch them

himself ..Happy

Most of what is being shown is 100 % true ,and tbh unbelievable...

I hope he got the lot off both the media and the police ,with a lesser person the outcome could have been tragic ..

Jefferies and the actor who plays him were both on BBC Breakfast this week, and Jefferies said initially he had some reservations about this drama being made, but said afterwards he felt it was an accurate account and he was completely happy with it, and also because it was respectful to the girl's family.
