Got a strange text this morning that doesn't make sense.
I put the key words into Google and there is some discussion on the subject.
One person had the message, word for word, which is....."Dear [MY REAL FIRST NAME] Thank you for writing to Barclays,
we are dealing with your request, and will respond within 5 working days.
Anyone on here had similar please?

Don't reply as every time you do they whack a fairy.
Had 2 Diff calls yesterday from "ppi" T0ssers in Manchester,0161, cut them both off,
checked their number on the web, many complaints made about them,
passed on the info to T.P.S.

Some scammers send text messages in the hope that the mark replies or calls back. Of course it's premium rate service that the fraudster owns. How they got your number and name is impossible to say but not that difficult.
Inform Barclays security section. It is in their interest to trace it and stop the scammers (or whatever they are).
Barry - My Bank does not even know my mobile number and it must have been "computer dialled"

I know someone who used to blow a Very Loud whistle into the Phones Receiver when getting these Nuisance calls, they soon stopped calling.
No point blowing a whistle at a moby text message, but the worrying thing is it isn't just random dialed
but specific to myself by name!
Again, Barclay's don't have my mobile number, and I can't imagine them corresponding in such a way, with my first name in capitals!
Anyway I have spoken to my personal *anker at the branch to sort it out.
