Stick with windows 7. You don't need to buy a pc that comes with windows 7 as you can buy windows 7 pro for ca £28
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Windows-7-Professional-COA-Product-Key-Genuine-Microsoft-/321606642479?pt=UK_Computing_Software_Software_SR&ha****m4ae13feb2f Windows XP is no longer supported so would not be considered safe. |

I think I mean Windows 7. The one that's generally considered good, directly before Windows 8 (obv 7 then
)Only the tower's packed up so I have all the other gear. I quite fancy the idea of an all in one, just for neatness. My wife's about to start child minding, so it's easier to pick up and pack away while I'm at work to save getting jam butties pushed in the cd drive etc. That said, I've never tried one so don't know if they're a viable alternative or if the tech's still new and they're a bit unstable. I previously had a HP Pavillion bought from CCL but I see they're now doing their own brand gear. Obviously the likes of HP are a good brand, but not essential if the processor, hard drive, graphics card etc are all decent. Just not sure what counts as decent nowadays or if I'm shelling out £400 for a piece of sh!t. |

Windows 10 is due to be released later next year (they are bypassing Windows 9).
I did read somewhere (not sure where) that it may be a very cheap or even free upgrade. |

I was going to buy a PC till I found out that I could connect a screen to it that works independently to the display on the laptop. I won't bother buying another PC now.

These days you can basically use an LCD tv as a monitor, hdmi is fantastic.
I was showing pictures to family from a laptop on their new TV the other day, they hadn't realised they could do it so simply. PS I'd go for Windows 7, 8 is imo rubbish, from what I've read next version will be better and more 7 like again, I'd skip 8 if possible. |

It depends what your use is, but I have always found PCs to perform much quicker than a laptop.
