Russell Brand, believed to be worth about £9m, believes in the redistribution of wealth so much he lives in an apartment worth around £2m and pays rent of around £5000 per month.
|
|
By:
why, if he's renting, is it important to state the value of the property?

Why on earth do supposed heavyweight "news" broadcasters, let alone Parliament give this twerp such encouragement, profile and applause?

I could never understand the argument made by people as to the gaining of wealth by socialists.
Similar attacks have been made on the likes of Billy Brag but none of us chose to live in the time we do, nor did we shape the system. Who is worse, the person who succeeds and tells everyone of the unfairness or the person who succeeds and keeps quiet about it? One thing that is absolute and is generally missed from the accusations made by types who scoff at the fact somebody made a pile and that is that they are the types with aspirations to do the same (whether successfully or not) and as sure as eggs are eggs would happily cut the throat of the individual who handicaps themselves within our present system, therefore taking advantage themselves. |

Russell Brand, believed to be worth about £9m, believes in the redistribution of wealth so much he lives in an apartment worth around £2m and pays rent of around £5000 per month. Indeed he does. And after his rant about tax dodging on telly, it has apparently come to light that his landlord is in a tax haven. |
|
By:
sounds very much like how the government dont want to vet people themselves and simply renege responsibly to others.
Just like private tech firms finding terrorists based on rhetoric used online the individual seems to have to take responsibility for every pound they spend themselves. So Brand is responsible for funding a tax dodger is that what we are saying? If we are drawing a line in the sand here then I could open up on plenty with accusations of how they are funding the actions of wrong uns. |

Brand is a caricature, he provokes a debate that has to be had, no more no less

He provokes lots of debate.
The main one being how the Sun gets away with it's 'Get back in line peons, here's some t1ts to mollify you' approach all these years. |

By:
He's made little talent go a long way but I don't really begrudge him doing it. On occasion he can even be mildly amusing.

Obviously I meant ESTABLISHMENT, not ESTABLISHING
![]() I think he is fighting a losing battle when you take on tabloids directly, they will destroy his soul in the long run, although the importance of newspapers had dwindled over the years given the mass media and 24 news cycles, they are still very powerful and will make his life a misery if he persists. |
|
By:
I'm sure he has more than a few skeletons in his closet he wouldn't fancy them doing an expose on

A cretin. I've always assumed the girlies (and gayees) saw something in him I'd missed. Really, he should be liquidized and sprayed over potatoes.
And then sold for third-rate chips. |

Brand has previously taken on The Sun - and won.

Makes me laugh when people have a go at people who are trying to make a difference. So what if Brand rents a big house. As he says he can afford it. But because he's in the public eye, he's choosing to put himself out there to help people less well off than himself. He is also using his voice to try and educate people as to the realities of the economic and political situation we are in. And expose the absolute obscenity of the class divide.
|
|
By:
How exactly is he helping people less well off than himself, bearing in mind that this covers most of us?
What has he actually done apart from tell us what we already know ie that we live in a country with a strong class system and that the economic and political system leaves a lot to be desired? Of course, some of the more cynical might see all this constant publicity as a means of selling more copies of his book. As he's already reputed to be worth around £9m, which is more than enough to live on, perhaps he would be given more credibility if he donated the profits of his book to Shelter. |
|
By:
he is part of the class divide, just because he walks around dressed like a tramp doesn't make him lower class

The Guardian, in it's infinite reporting wisdom, have used a FULL PAGE for the shocking news that Sir Nigel of Farage agrees with Claridges that breast feeding mothers should be more discreet.
Not much recent news on Rotherham, Oxford, Bristol, Trojan Horse, FGM, etc though... |

Not on the wrong thread, and not lost. Merely pointing out to Facts, the Guardian reader, what the Guardian waste space on, and what they haven't recently mentioned. Which is the more newsworthy>? Breast feeding in Claridges, or Asian racist abuse of underage white girls on a massive scale Try to keep up. |
