I have sky & an additional Sky box in the bedroom.  I also have the new BT Vision box.  The contract is up and I need to decide which one to go with.  I like Sky but its very expensive and the box upstaris which costs an additional £11 per month is very old and does not hold much on the hard drive.

But as I trade NFL games, I'm scared that the pictures on BT or any other system will be behind - does anyone have advice?

I'm sure Sky will offer you a deal

there was a thread about this a while back.

You have to tell them you are leaving and to disconnect you and they will put you through to the backroom and pull their trousers down.

- and pay YOU to beam their pictures to you.

DW2E is right. Tell 'em to feck off. They'll come begging soon enough.

Buy a new box off eBay.

I disconnected a few years back.  Day before it was due to get cut off they rang up and asked if they could do me a good discount on my Sky package to get me to stay.

"Hello Sir, just wondering if we can offer you a discounted rate on your Sky package to get you to stay with us?"

"No, but thank you."

"Would you like me to go through the options anyway?"

"Not really, I can't see how there's anything that you could offer me to change my mind."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, quite sure, thanks.  You won't change my mind."

"What if we gave you it for free for 6 months?"

"Errrr...how free?"

"Completely free and then half price for the 6 months after that."

"Okay, sounds good."

So, although I had to make quite a humiliating climbdown, it is worth giving it a go with their disconnections department, but you have to be HARDCORE and let them break first.  Bit like when Bodhi and Johnny Utah are plummeting towards the ground in Point Break, daring each other to pull the ripcord.  You need to be Bodhi.

I got 40% discount and HD for free for 6 months plus a new HD wifi box £68 per month which includes calls and fibre optic broadband, 18 month contract which increase by £20 after six months.

Happy with that

Broadband, Sky with sports and calls and new Box.

Be careful I tried to cancel they said they were unable to process it just now and would call back, they never did and the cancellation never went through

I rang to "cancel" and used the excuse that my old box was becoming temperamental and it was expensive - they gave me 2 brand new HD boxes and knocked my £91 down to £55/mth
