Anyone remember these?
Used to sell them from my dads stall in Holloway, Nags Head market years ago, Bill's bacon.
Used to sell about 2lb of it for a quid. It was so tasty. Quite a bit of fat, but if you overfried it, you got a salty, meaty, crispy mess. Just delicious.
Why can't you get them anymore? Have production techniques improved to the point where you dont get mishapen cuts any more?

The demand for it probably dried up as customers died off from heart attacks.
To change the subject somewhat, Treble, did you see the latest episode of QI? Apparently, all snakes are venomous, even the constrictors.
I was always a jellied eels, cockles and whelks man myself treble, I've never heard of bacon misshapes before to be honest with you. There is a Nags Head market near Holloway prison if memory serves but I'm a Sarf Londoner so it wasn't somewhere I used to go to.
Yeah Slippy, that's where we worked. Worked there from the age of 8 to 17. There's not much I dont know about meat.

I'll stick to my jellied eels, also like the pie and mash shop Harrington's in Tooting.
Last time I went there in the Summer you had to wait an hour to get served. I wear my Pearly King outfit of course and sing The Lambeth Walk with great gusto 
Best pie and mash shop for me is Maureen's in crisp Street.
I had to look that up treble, E14 is not a place I know too well, it has got great reviews though so must be good.

I've only tried them once a lad who was a spurs fan brought me a jar back from darn sarf I was gagging eating them
but forced them down as he'd brought them back as i'd requested some to have a try------------- never again.
the only other thing I've come across that I couldn't eat was tripe there was some on the bar free at a pub visited on an
away football match trip 20 minutes later I was still chewing away it was just like chewing leather no taste at all after a
further 20 minutes and making no progress I gave it up as a bad job.
about 25 yrs later I came across it again and had another go but alas with the same result.
