There was a similar thread on general betting very recently, take a look. I'm sure he said Betfair take no liability.

Good luck.

Happened to me howdy but it was my son and he lost nearly £500 playing hu poker.
He's a good player but was drunk as a monkey and only came here cos his partner wouldn't let him in their house. Laugh
Didn't find it funny at the time though. (He knew my details cos he set my account up)

i only live with the mrs so i know its fraud pal. i was in bed at 12 and this happened at 1-30am

Taken on an arcade account so i am hoping as im not betting against someone else that betfair appreciate this and refund, as in effect its gone into their profit account.

If they dont i cant justify coming back here as i dont trust money is safe.

ive not had a bet in their for 10 years (arcades) so they must know it wasn't me or highly unlikely to have been. The IP address will tell all here, no doubt from somewhere distant in the world

Seems strange as they can't win. Would make sense to go on poker and lose to another account but only if that cash can be withdrawn quickly.
I remember when I first started playing I'd pay for a ticket in local shop and load my account via a code.
It was all one-way traffic at the start so no winnings but I assume you could draw out by ticket and claim winnings at the shop.

Call logged with Betfair tonight and I await a response. Halifax Fraud team were fantastic when I called them/ they cancelled my card & said, sadly betting websites are the biggest trouble they encounter these days (not specifically this one) and said they expect a positive outcome and if not they are happy to take the matter up on my behalf, which I did not expect.

Keep you posted.

H

after 11 years of 'service' in here I expect a call on time.

That's good news from the Halifax and good customer service. Hopefully BF will be the same.
No loss to them as, as you said, the money went into their account as a profit.

^^^ agree pal the fact it was done backing sports may be the saving grace. But I have been told by Halifax that they expect a favourable result.

Halifax were good to me Howdi when I had a problem. I always used to send my Gran flowers through Interflora and one day somebody had ordered £90 worth on my account, I got refunded but Halifax would not tell me who was responsible.

thanks burton....i had a quick look before betfair closed my account there was literally dozens and dozens and dozens of bets placed in the gaming room. My question how good is security if this wasn't noticed - banks notice strange transactions that were out of character. That said, I must give Betfair every chance (2 days) to investigate. I'm in Watford on Friday, so if I don't get a call I may visit their Head Office.

no...but did get defrauded on paypal when apparently the bank told me they got hacked last year.
someone tried to buy 1500 quids worth of computer stuff in the states.

at the end of it all paypal done me for 30 quid.
so i simply closed the account and never will use again.

wouldnt be shocked if the buying attempt was all fake tbh

also have to question how secure most gambling sites are.
employees are still human and there will always be the odd one or two who will be up to no good.

if anyone has access its a risk.
there is no way they can prove to the public that no one has access.....somemone simply has to have access imo

Howdi - are you sure you weren`t p*ssed and lost it yourself? Wouldn`t be the first one to do that. Mate of mine got drunk and when he wen`t into his account next day he had lost 2k on the Cricket and couldn`t even remember putting computer on, let alone make a bet of that size. If you weren`t, hope you get your cash back.

I don`t see the point in it since they can`t withdraw there winnings. Must just do it for a challenge. What if they hacked into one`s account, gambled one`s money and won 2k Shocked What a dilemma that would be and a challenge of one`s scruples. What would one do:

(a) Report the fraud

(b) Withdraw the winnings immediately

Confused

If I were on a good run, and being an honest chap, I would take option (a) but if I was on a bad run, I would probably take option (b) and that`s being honest. LaughLaugh

on a slightly different note
if i back something for 4/5 quid the market pushes it out
if i lay something it moves the other way
so you can never trade out straight away

if this is not happening to anybody else then i must be
the only person betting on here
if it is happening to you ,we can't all be either backing or laying
different markets so are we all seeing the same prices's at the same time?

mac my son was a self employed builder and gave it up over 7 years ago to play poker fulltime.
He used to multi table sngs (12 at a time using a table manager obviously)then moved on to Dub ups.
He also plays high stakes HU but only 2 at a time.
He will assure you that drink impairs the ability. Laugh
