I'm inclined to agree with you, zorro.
There's far too much CGI and not enough story lately. That said, there was a time about 7 or 8 years ago when I saw quite a few films I really enjoyed; Stardust Little Children Fracture Sunshine The Illusionist Flushed Away But since then, nothing - in fact a couple have been so bad, I walked out halfway through: Mamma Mia (worst film ever?!) The Departed (I really didn't like this - obviously, others don't agree) Happy Feet Inception The 80's seemed to have better comedies and better acting. I agree with you too, pawras. Midnight Express was excellent, also Papillon. Shawshank (along with The Usual Suspects), not bad, but very overrated. |

Most films are overrated full stop. I would say 95% of Hollywood films are proper sh1te. 4% watchable and 1% are actually good. Not sure if this is a recent development or not. Too many explosions, CGI, machinegunnists failing to hit a target, hammy acting and happy endings

Far too much cgi rather than plot these days, but this is allegedly so that they’re easily exported abroad.
Also nearly everyone in an action film is basically superhuman and the laws of physics can be defied at will even if it’s not full on sci-fi. Studyform - yeah papillon was great , pity they stopped the film about 2/3's, through the first book of two books and made out he was an old guy when he escaped when in fact I think he was still in no more than his 30s. It would be ripe for a gritty tv mini series. |

too much swearing in films - makes me cringe - why do they allow it ? because its an 18? that's OK then .
If i popped into Sainsbury's where they were all adults present and shourted ,Goddamm it give me those f***g eggs ,and where do you keep the f****g cheese you shi* faced fagg0t c*nt morons ? - holy f*cking sh*t ! , that wine is on offer you son of a b*** , and why no self service you ars*holes . I'd probably be frowned at . Can't watch because of it - last film i enjoyed was maybe 15 - 20 years ago - someone need s to get a grip and ban the unneccassary swearing . |

I just think we live in a era where everyone wants to be heard regardless of other folks feelings .
If you can't shout and swear in films or on the street ,maybe paint yourself in tattoos ,maybe get a sex change and tell everyone on daytime TV about it , and if that doesn't work drape the house in flags . Failing that ,go on a reality TV show and act like a complete c*nt. What's wrong with society ? look at me ,look at me . 50 years ago these same folk would have been locked away in an institution . |

I think swearing is okay in films, it makes it more realistic. You only have to look at the soaps where they aren't allowed to swear to realise that.
