I have so many that I need to "unfriend" some, but to keep the peace, without them knowing!

One seems to post profanity with everything that he finds humorous, but I don't! What people seem to forget is that anyone can see what they are saying,
unless, of course, they have restricted  who can see their post.

Two American "friends" are fabulous and successful, and seriously minted, society types, but one is so far into religion that her posts are painful.
The other is so "mega-minted" and a beautiful family but I get sick of seeing all the good lifing things they do and how they dress there two daughters in
custom made dresses for every event they go to.

Their eldest started at pre-school, and her special outfit included pearlised pink "cow girl boots".

Anyway, if I unfriend these three, I will still have twelve so that's pretty cool is it not?

So the question is "how do I unfriend my friends?

I've never been on Facebook and never will.

It can't be too hard blocking a couple of Yanks, you're never going to bump into them and have to explain yourself.
Report VCM November 23, 2014 4:30 PM GMT
All very well unfriending them but how are you going to find out what they had for lunch and which shops they have visited?
Report Aunty Post November 23, 2014 4:37 PM GMT
Yeah s.kembo but the good lifers are threatening to come and see us!!!!

VCM....a very good point by you.....Laugh

you may even have to wait for one them to die. Which would give you the opportunity to say "we'll never see his like again."

The thing is that really this stuff is more for young folks, but it's nice to see pics and tales from family overseas.

Still need to know how to unfriend or, at least, hide their post so I don't feel the need to answer.

Facebook is great for keeping in touch with friends and family.

Twitter is great for current affair and random sh!!t.

Chit Chat is great for so random crap and debate.

Move into the 21st century and embrace them all.

I don't use facebook, but to slág off anyone who does, especially to a load of strangers with made up names on an anonymous gambling forum, is just ironically peculiarCrazy.

I just don`t get it. I have friends and relatives who are always telling me to get on Facebook. Err, no thanks, if I want to contact you I`ll visit or phone them. They have hundreds of imaginary "friends", some who live in the same street but when they are ill or in need, who is it that helps them? Their Facebook "friends", err NO but YES you guessed it me.
Report themightymac November 23, 2014 6:10 PM GMT
It`s the biggest con trick devised in the capitalist world we live in. Facebook employees comb their pages gathering information on them as to their likes and dislikes and sell the info on to businesses all over the world, then they wonder why the get inundated with junk mail and nuisance phone calls.

Report Shrewd_dude November 23, 2014 10:38 PM GMT
Can you not just block them? Never done it before but I doubt you can unfriend them and not have them find out if they look and see you are no longer friends with them.

You should download Facebook Purity though allows you to customise your page E.g get rid of ads, people inviting you to play games and apps that tell you how far someone has run or music they are listening to etc.

But I don't actually post on it, just use it to keep in contact with people I met overseas, and to see when the people I never talked to at school are going to sleep.
And to get my daily selfie fix from insecure types Whoops

Yeah it's crazy how many people put up pictures of their baby/kids at bath time or half dressed as well.

10 years ago only the family and future girlfriends would see these pictures now they must be accessible to thens of thousands of people for ever if your privacy settings are friends of friends.

Paedos wet dream as well.

If you actually used Facebook you'd know that its not there for all to see.

There are filters for different groups.
Report Aunty Post November 24, 2014 4:04 PM GMT
Well anyway, I have now successfully dumped my two American "friends".

No malice whatsoever, but we were just not on the same wavelength!

If you wonder how come these became "friends" it was at their request, as one is the "mom" and one the sister of our "friend" at NASA.

If I Google the name of someone I haven't seen for years you usually end up with a Facebook page with someone telling you about their wonderful life, wife, kids, job etc when the people I really want to know about are those who would never be on Facefook because this sort of  tripe is as tediuos to them as it is to me.

In that case, the person you Googled has his/her filters set to 'public'.

Nobody except the ones I filtered, which are family and friends, can read my Facebook page.

My 20 year old niece has hers set up for 'friends of friends' and has accumulated over 1,000 'friends',  and I'd bet a tidy sum that she can't name 100.

exactly, you become more interesting to people when they've no idea what you're up to, people are more noticed for not being on stalkbook then they are on it, given you're a minority.

the contrary is the point, people who use stalkbook obsessively are living in a virtual existence, they have more fake friends then real ones, when those that don't have the opposite

Peep with 1000s of friends on facebook? FFS how can you be 'friends' with so many?
You would need to spend 24/7 on the site.

My niece has lots of friends from school, college and university.

But as soon as a name appears in posts of friends of hers, that are not on her 'friends' list,  it comes up 'people you may know' and she ticked every box with a 'friend request' which always get accepted, and this spreads amongst youth like the plague, hence  over 1,000 'friends'. I bet she doesn't know 900 of them.

Whe you die do your virtual friends attend your virtual funeral and grieve virtually?
Report akabula November 24, 2014 6:20 PM GMT
I think taxi it's a bit different for youngsters who have probably got more time on their hands than us.
Different for them and probably more suited to them to have vast numbers.
TMM if you're married with work commitments facebook only works if you limit the friends to just that friends and relatives of course.
Report everythings gone green November 24, 2014 6:34 PM GMT
I limit myself to 99 friends. One in, one out

Make your "friends" prove their friendship, any of em who won't contribute to your appeal for funds to stave off bankruptcy is out.
