I used to love our local clubs when I was a kid. One of them was just like the Wheeltappers and Shunters complete with concert secretary, and a hot pie cupboard on the bar. Sadly many closed after the demise of the pits. Still go to a local one now and then but the smoking ban really did for it, can still get a pint of Pedigree there for £2.50. Also noticed that the quality of the turns has gone down, but if they are not getting the income they have to have what can be afforded.

The pies are one thing I miss about the pubs & clubs nowadays.A pie & a pint you couldn't beat it,but that's progress I suppose. |
