"Ofsted was accused of “political correctness” after downgrading a top rural primary school for effectively being too English."
Meanwhile in the East End the OFSTED bods are a bit fed up with what's going on there too: Mazahirul Uloom School in Tower Hamlets - Inspectors said too much of the curriculum "focuses solely on Islamic themes" and judged it inadequate. Pupils here believed it was wrong to learn about other religions, were not taught art, music or drama and pupils had a "narrow view" of women in society. Some students told inspectors: "Women stay at home and clean and look after the children. They cook and pray and wait for us to come back from school with homework." Ebrahim Academy - (secondary) pupils not prepared for modern British life and curriculum said to be too narrow; London East Academy - (secondary) rated inadequate. Curriculum is not broad and balanced, and students have insufficient understanding of how other people live in Britain and abroad. Also school's work to keep children safe is inadequate. Most of the school library books are in Arabic; Al Mizan - (primary) rated inadequate. Work in religious studies books shows many pupils have learned only about Islam. Systems for keeping children safe are weak - public have open access to school; East London Islamic School - (primary) rated inadequate. The majority of lessons focus on Islamic or Arabic studies. All pupils learn to recite religious texts by memory and repetition. Teachers adopt a similar teaching style in other lessons. |

Clearly a racist newspaper. |

Have you ever been to Market Rasen? about as low on cultural diversity as anywhere in the UK. The nearest city is Lincoln, about as low on cultural diversity as any City in the UK.
Where are these kids supposed to travel to experience cultural diversity? You could live your entire life in Lincolnshire and see two black faces a year. |

The insanity and self loathing that so many people have in power is snowballing .
We are celebrating and remembering the fallen from WWI .....at the same time as we are persecuting a school for being too Engish , it's a mad house. |

My wife was at a school recently and overheard one the male teachers stating that there maybe resistance from the school board over putting up the Christmas tree as it may offend those of other cultures.
I thought the idea was to promote cultural tolerance, others need to be tolerant of British culture. Why are they caving in to this bullshine? |

Is this sort of 'Compulsory Diversity/Multiculturalism in schools at whatever cost' (completely of course against the wishes of the majority) also practiced in ANY other EU country?

21 Nov 14 14:47 Where are these kids supposed to travel to experience cultural diversity? Recently reported, but I forget which part of London it was, think it was south somewhere. . A coach load of kids from the south west (Somerset?) visited a London school. They were planning to return the favour and allow a coach load of London kids to visit them. That'll go down well with the locals ![]() |

And presumably there aren't any angry parents outside the school gates waving banners saying "MULTICULTURALISM AND DIVERSITY FOR THIS SCHOOL NOW". no one even thinks about it, seems mental that a school has been marked down for not having a diverse mix of pupils when it's beyond their control |

I'm afraid our local school wouldn't get much of a mark.We have no east europeans,no asians except for the bloke who has the local chinese carry out in the village. We have an Indian bloke in the chippy but I get the impression he's struggling for trade.
Recently the school brought someone in from another religion (not C of E or Catholic) to do assembly.Rather strange that morning quite a few of the kids brought letters in saying they had not to do assembly that morning. |

And OFSTED strike again.
A school has been told it cannot be rated as "outstanding" by Ofsted because pupils need to have more awareness of other British cultures. It's the second school in the county to be criticised for a lack of diversity. Executive head Lea Mason said finding cultural opportunities in rural Lincolnshire was a "big challenge". Following the latest inspection, Ofsted said while it was a good school, it was not outstanding because pupils did not have a strong awareness of other cultures or wider issues of modern Britain. Ms Mason said: "Our students are not immersed daily with cultures you might find in a city-based environment." However, she added: "I still think we have a responsibility to make our students aware of different cultures, but we are doing a lot already. "We have lots of other challenges too - some of out students are not able to sit on a mini-bus for a long time to get to somewhere that has more cultural opportunities." Inspectors said while the school integrated spiritual, moral and social education into the curriculum, pupils had limited awareness of other faiths, cultures and traditions. St Lawrence School in Horncastle, Lincolnshire, which caters for 140 children with special needs, was visited last month. |

Given the pretendy problems at this school, would it help if maybe Britain imported a delegation of a couple of dozen of overseas supply teachers ASAP to help out, perhaps from Somalia? I'm sure the young girls in particular at the school would quickly learn about the cultural differences that have enriched other parts of the UK from Bristol to Bradford. Quite honestly I'm surprised the left-wing progressive thinkers of the teaching unions haven't already urged such a strategy.

Yes Alun, that is most surprising.

Nobody else thinks so though.

At the Market Rasen school, there were three areas required for improvement so that the school could be considered outstanding.
two were to do with teaching. the requirements to fix the lack of ethnic diversity are simply to provide children with first hand experience of other children from different ethnic backgrounds, e.g. a visit to another school, not change the make up of the school. all of this is in the publicly and easily accessible report. http://ofsted.gov.uk/provider/files/2432799/urn/120463.pdf personally, i'd be a bit more concerned about mendacious and manipulative stories like this appearing in a newspaper with the sole purpose of pushing peoples buttons |

and what a big fat fecking surprise
St Lawrence School in Horncastle has four areas required for improvement, three of which are directly to do with teaching. http://ofsted.gov.uk/provider/files/2432427/urn/120757.pdf |

The insanity and self loathing that so many people have in power is snowballing . We are celebrating and remembering the fallen from WWI .....at the same time as we are persecuting a school for being too Engish , it's a mad house. And seeing the numbers of food banks continue to grow, a growth in the number of homeless people and a continued increase in the numbers living below the poverty line. Whilst £billions worth of taxes are avoided being paid by the richest companies and individuals in the country. A mad house ? A country run by elitist capitalist lunatics that's for sure. |
