Taking my little boy to London. Probably going to go next week and will be staying for a week or so. Staying 30 min train ride outside of central London so will travel into London a few days or else book a hotel there for a few days. Any suggestion of things to do or places to visit with a christmas theme for a 3 year old boy. Have been thinking of going to the national history museuem where they have a skating ring outside. Then Hamleys and the hyde park winter wonderland. Any other suggestions which are not so widely advertised. Thanks in advance.
Christmas fair on the South Bank near Waterloo is nice, usually lots going on, can go on the London Eye and to the aquarium too, you can spend most of a day doing that lot.

Like to see some nice christmas window displays. I imagine Hamleys and Harrods are the most obvious. Any other ones which might be worth trying to see which would not take you too far out of the way from other things to do and see.

All the big shops on Oxford and Regents streets I suppose but they will be like hell on earth, might be worth showing the littlun because crowds like that will probably be quite exciting but you'll want to kill and kill again.

the winter wonderland at Hyde Park is great but I don't know if it's open when you go. A site I use is http://www.timeout.com/london which will tell you what's happening.

In fact for a whole day of nice, start on the Eye nice and early, then the aquarium, (not tried the London Dungeon but that's right next door too) then mosey up the river through the fair, have lunch in one of the restaurants under the RFH (wagamama, Giraffe, that sort of thing) then carry on along the river past Tate Modern (there's bound to be something going on there) all the way along to the Golden Hinde (there's a playground halway along that bit for you or even the nipper), you can go on-board (book early) and there are often pirate adventures etc. Then you're in London Bridge/Borough so can have dinner there.

I'd say Aquarium but not to bother with the Eye because he won't know what he is looking at. Tbh I'd be inclined to leave him with his mum till he is at least 7.

Embrace the multiculturalism of Christmas in east London.

Thanks for all the replies. I agree that my little boy will be a few years too young to enjoy some of the things mentioned.
I would not be even thinking of taking him to London for a christmas holiday at his age except that my wife is taking him over to visit his gran. So I will fly over at the end of next week and spend a few days with them and take in some things in London that are different than you would get where we live. I will definitely go to Hamleys and the Christmas market in hyde park and then see if there is anything else he might enjoy.

He's asking on the Betfair forum obviously because this is the mental age of most of the contributors and almost the reading age.

We have had people on here before who SAID they had been there, but it turned out that Barking and Whitechapel were the two places.
