I would had thought war was a no go area, unless we are the usa.

My all time favourite. We're going well, we're going Shell. |

That was a great ad aka'. Bing on a whistle stop tour around GB.
By:
Found it quite moving.
By:
they were only fighting over the plastic bag tax after all
By:
Clean clothes, well shaved and looking like they're having a jolly good time. Pity they'll all be shot or blown to bits in a few days time. Totally unsuitable subject for selling groceries.
By:
Disgusting advert.
If they wanted to re create war like conditions where were the rats eating rotting corpses? |
By:
No doubt Sainsbury's will be donating all of their profits to the British Legion and the Injured Germans Fund.

A very well made advert that must have cost a small fortune but as Bix says imo this is totally inappropriate imo. |

I like sainsburys, generaly speaking I think their products are far better quality than tesco etc. and their customer service is excellent BUT I find this ad truly sickening, disrespectful to those who gave their lives and trivialising one of the darkest episodes of 20th century history. I will not be shopping at sainsburys this christmas.

Next year advertising campaign going to be about either iraq or afghanistan?

Blatant rip off of Paul McCartney's 1982 christamas video for Pipes Of Peace,
By:
This was far far better. But then anything would be better than that **** by Macca.
By:
Can't see the difference myself. (I'll concede that PoP is a truly dreadful song.)
By:
all good publicity for Sainsburys - which of course was the intention
By:
It was very nicely put together but yeah I agree, both disrespectful in using a terrible tragedy as an advert, and sending out a very wrong message about war. I work for Sainsburys. and they are actually really good, in terms of how they treat their employees, their customers and their suppliers. Whoever authorised this just got it wrong.

Pipes Of Peace is a brilliant song imvhho

I guess you love The Frog Song too

Backed by Royal British Legion ( 20 year partnership) All profits of sales of the chocolate bar will be donated to this cause. |
By:
But of course the intention is that you go in to buy the chocolate bar and then spend more money in Sainsburys. Not quite the magnaminous gesture it first appears.
By:
Frog Song mentioned, 1.01 landed. It's a brilliant song and I'm not joking.
By:
Of course.
By:
To bix
But ( with added sarcasm) will also do for the so called 1.01 intention from Kenny ![]() |
By:
I honestly think it's a great song and video. The guy can be so brilliantly diverse it's staggering.

By:
One this is certain, you'll never give in.

By:
Thing ffs.

By:
ha ha Easter
By:
well made, but it didn't move me as much as the John Lewis one
By:
I will take my usual childish delight in going into my local Sainsburys and buying the chocolate bar and nothing else.
By:
Great advert as are most of these Christmas specials.
By:
I really find it strange that people get excited/emotional about a bloody advert.
By:
It's not so much the adverts themselves but rather what it means, ie getting close to the festive season.
I can understand however that some people actually dislike this time of the year. Normally old sad gits ![]() |
By:
Oh aye and Arsenal fans cos their season is normally over by then.
