Anyone got a DirectGov account from the Jobcentre

There are the odd ones you can apply direct without going through recruitment agencies.

My current job was found that way.

i did find a few last time but now its very rare , i was just on and found none in my area with 15 miles

All temp / agency stuff and it same stuff thats on other sites ive looked at , gumtree is better probably

I used a Jobcentre computer years ago.

The final question was:

Enter distance you are willing to travel: I put 15 miles

It chucked up about 150 jobs.

The first 5 were within 10 miles, the next 10 pages (100 jobs, were over 30 and mostly nearer 50 miles)

The last page had about 6 jobs as far away as Cornwall, Scotland and the facking Shetland Islands

Cmat i know what you mean it used to always do that with me waste of time , they have done away with them in my jobcentre now and introduced this for everyone , which imo is basically the same but now you need to keep records yourself instead of taking the slip up to the counter and they type it in because they never had a clue imo

I know i can keep on top if they hit me with questions but i guarantee more people struck off their money , they said they are doing away with all paper , so older people wont have a clue how to use this site and keep records to stay on jobseekers.

Basically got told if not records your out and they said not just what you applied for they want times / copies of emails if not done direct via site etc , i could go up with a fkcing 100 page notebook see how they like reading all that.

Plus you get a diary saying waht you plan to do the next 2 weeks , and on next page what you done.

Woke up had a coffe at 7.45am went for a sh1t then logged into my universal jobmatch typed in y postcode and a job came in india.

Get a job, be much easier it seems than all this flim-flam of pretending to try and get one your scroungers

i agree all scroungers on jobseekers , plenty work out people keep saying , well how can none of these people start offering jobs then? or get their mate a job beside them

The agency jobs are all that there is and are nonsense , you might get a call on a sunday morning at 6am when jimmy has pulled a sickie because hes been out on the lash all night.

Im not complaining about this new system but its going to hit older guys and woman , how can get on the internet daily if they cant afford electricity never mind a phone bill? oh aye go to the library and but for some libraries you need to get a bus , a bus daily costs there and back how much?

well im 5 weeks so i have 5 month plus to kick about and do sh1t

Big issue go fill in some application forms and ses how many get back , just do easy jobs like supermarkets and sh1t like that you can apply for Asda online go on and show us the results , you get told right away if youve made interview or now and then from there on there is a few more interviews , go do it just see what they say.

A Tesco express opened 2 miles from where i live. Over 500 people applied for 6 jobs.

I advertised a vacancy using it. I didn't get all that many responses - maybe because it was a part-time job. But at least it got me an employee and also doesn't cost anything to use. Which makes me surprised that more employers don't advertise on it.

There is still a stigma attached to being unemployed, employers always seem to like taking someone on who is currently working.
Having said all that, many unemployed people are not the sort you'd want to have working for you (obviously depending on the type of job) and they don't help themselves. So a lot of the "go and get a job you scroungers" will never work because there are so many unemployables.

I had an interview yesterday and the manager despaired at the quality of those that expressed an interest. I think the jobcentre sent him a few.

Still hard to get a job up North.

And everywhere else.

^^^^^ another one who thinks £70 a week JSA pays for beer, ciggies, drugs, cheap jewellery, tattoos and betting.

nothing to do with jobseekers, tho this gov't are doing everything in their power to punish the less well off, ie. you will get off benefits, no matter how sick you are, or else be forced into starvation and quite likely suicide.This is actually happening, int he thousands now, and that evil nazi Iain ducn. smith ought to be prosecuted for all he has done.
