Which are best in your opinion?

Have tried a few and the ones in bottles and tins are shockingly bad!
The only ones half decent are "Wilinger" or something like that.

"Herta" are fine but somewhat thin. I see that "Aldi" do some at 98p which are probably the same in different packaging.

The "Mattesons" smoked pork sausage is ok but too thick.

There must be some extra special ones out there somewhere.

the Tesco meat free hot dogs are worth a try. By the time you've chucked ketchup and mustard on them, they're not far from the real thing, and pigs haven't suffered in the manufacture.

Burton's link seems ok re animal welfare if you can believe what the site says.

Which ones have you tried B-B?
Report Aunty Post November 12, 2014 4:02 PM GMT
I certainly will try them HH if they have them at "Tesco Express", as I only go there for convenience, and when filling up.

Never go to the main supermarket.

Basically don't buy anything in a tin or jar (they may look nice) but they're just processed junk/ chicken meat

The best ones all come in packets & you want around 75% Pork

If you notice they sell them in completely diff areas of the shop , the packets will are in the real meat section

Asda do some decent ones in a blue packet (can't remember the name) but the best value are the Lidl Mini Brockwursts (they're not Mini) just that the full sized ones are HUGE Happy

Absolutely right re tins and jars! Have to wonder how many people buy the things more than once!
Report Mc Moonbeam November 12, 2014 4:39 PM GMT
You can also freeze the ones in packets , wouldn't fancy trying to freeze a jar full Wink

Westlers are the tastiest, however,  you can only buy them at Costco wholesalers and for that you need a trade card.Add a stale bun and some overcooked onions for the full 1970's standing on the terraces football effect.

Aldi's bratwursts get the thumbs up in our house.

Aldi's hot dogs are to thick for my liking although Mrs Twizzle likes a nice thick sausage...oooo matron!!
Report Barry Conway November 12, 2014 7:02 PM GMT
Rustlers hot dogs are pretty decent. They only take 90 seconds in the microwave. They say you should leave them to stand for 30 seconds but you don't need to. I defy anyone to wait that long without getting stuck in.

I shall try and report back Barry...how are the slow counts going these days?..you and Kenny must be struggling

Which ones have you tried B-B?

none I detest them but I buy other items off that company and remembered they do a German food selection.

If you like your sausages, you should try Chinese or Thai sausages. Different gravy. Blows the Euro/western sausage away.

Chinese sausages.Shocked You obviously don't realise what horrific cruelty they inpose on pigs!
Report kenny mann November 12, 2014 8:41 PM GMT

Kenny nothing to do with this thread but I though you would enjoy it.
Everything that is good about our animal friends. If only us humans could be so caring.
