Leeds restaurant recomendations.

Reds True Barbacue, corner of the Corn Exchange, I recommend the Donut Burger. Looking forward to the gig im going as well !

You really are spoilt for choice in Leeds. I guess it depends how much time you have, and whether you are going before or after the gig.

Let me know and I will point you in the right direction.

There's an excellent restaurant behind the City Varieties on The Headrow but it's vegetarian. More of a cafe really but the Thai curry is superb.

Word of advice from daughter is to wear something light as she says it's as hot as the sun in the arena.

Have visited here a few times and leave happy. They even sorted out a twin pram so we didn't have to carry upstairs. They have my favourite cakes from Old Chestnut, plus raw choices. The place buzzes with people from all walks of life.

Last visited July this year but have been many times. Superb food, relaxed friendly atmosphere. Ideal for a snack or a full meal with delicious cakes and an excellent range of teas.

I eat anything, but came here with my vegeterian girlfriend who often has problems picking something she really wants from a menu. No problems here, lots of a appealing options. What a delightful surprise awaits you at Global Tribe Cafe in Leeds- fresh delicious tasty & healthy food including a wonderful selection of deserts/cakes-catering for all needs and health requirements - gluten free -vegan -dairy free & raw...etc in a beautifully thought out environment with helpful friendly staff -perfect!!

Never been to a vegan restaurant until today Went with my wife and sister in law Am a fussy eater but what i had was filling and excellent price Amazing posh sodas and knowledgable service Will return again

This place is almost perfect. There's a big variety of vegetarian, vegan and also raw options-in my opinion the best ones. I've been there three times and everytime went out satisfied. “Ok”

If its a laid back meal, yummy burgers, wraps, nibbles tell them to go to Lab. Its right by the arena and the food was yummy.

Global Tribe Cafe is better.

"Sous le Nez", just off City Square" is always good and they have a board of daily specials.

Greek Street has Spanish, Indian and a couple of other places.

If they want to go somewhere more fancy and pricey - Gauchos is AMAZING

Best steak they will ever eat washed down with a glass of malbec

Sous le Nez en Ville is very good they do an early bird menu and you get a half bottle of wine in the price

Thanks for the advice so far. We would prefer somewhere in the city centre as we will be eating before the show at around 17:30. Im guessing places near the arena could be busy.

Gemma says the only place next to the arena is obviously busy and after she got in they were turning people away

Kendells Bistro is the best one I have been to. Their early bird menu is fantastic.

Seconded.  Superb steaks.  Best thing to come out of Argentina since Maradona.

Almost Famous new Burger joint on Great George Street , 2 mins from the Arena is well recommended as well.

Leeds lad born and bread, went to da mario's last week with wife and daughter for lunch.
it used to be a great little italien food and service used to be superb.........but alas no more
a pretty light lunch with drink(no alcohol)rocked in @ £52 this included a service charge which I always hate.
the food was at best average and thats being kind, the welcome poor not even shown properly to the table and inside was looking poor(it used to look rustic now it just looks not looked after).
the only positive I can say for the place was our waitress was excellent and the toilets were clean.
Other posters have it spot on, spoilt for choice in Leeds........gauchos steaks are supposed to always be excellent, enjoy your show..

That's interesting and sorry to hear about Da Marios. I haven't been for so long and obviously things can change for better or worse.

Leo Campagna, the original owner, sold out his interest to concentrate on his new place on the riverside in Knaresbrough,
and that in itself was a long time ago.

Lots of places close on a Monday - the Reliance gastro pub is near the Arena and does great food and beer. Sukhothai on South Parade is the best Oriental in Leeds City Centre. Whitelocks good for big portions of old fashioned pub grub.

Cuthbert Brodrick  -two meals for £6.99 . Good beer to boot

I'm a fan of the cattlegrid in leeds near reds BBQ  round the back of the corn exchange.

Monday nights also happen to be a never ending rack of ribs night...pay 19.99 and eat till you drop. That being said the racks are immense, I have an appetite and 1 is enough for me...current record is 6 FFS

So let's say there are two or more of you and you order the ribs and the others order the cheapest thing on the menu.

Do they send out "The Ribs Police" to make sure you are the only one eating them?

I would prefer 'The Rack Police'

There are plenty of places around Greek Street and Park Row. 5 minutes from City Square and 10 minutes walk to the arena,

Depends what you are prepared to pay but you are spoilt for choice. San Carlo is nice but expensive.

If you are looking for something that is value for money try Carluccio's on Greek Street (not Trinity). Slug and Lettuce do a 2 for 1 on Mondays it's not bad for a quick bite.

Bibi's is nice but it's a bit further away

Avoid Da Mario's and I'm not a fan of Picollino's.

I should add that if you go to The Light on the Headrow a few minutes away there is a small square where you can get any type of food that takes your fancy, mostly at the budget end but ok.
