Gogglebox

Never sat through a full episode but the missus watches it so catch bits here and there. I took an instant dislike to the posh couple but I've since changed my mind. They're fecking brilliant!

I like the way they can say the things we all say but can get away with it on tv because of some reason.

only watched 2 episodes so far

same here never sat through a full episode but the posh couple are tv gold, couple of weeks ago they were watching evan davis's (who's gay )interview david cameron

posh man: he's no jeremy paxman, he's not drilling him hard enough
posh women: I bet he'd love to drill him
posh man: yes, well er, yes well we wont go there, anyway, erm (both try to stop themselves from laughing), yes well erm yes........oh **** off

The posh couple are brilliant!

They're a right couple of goers as well. They have swinging weekends at their hotel and get involved.

Was great the week when he picked his dog up and started using him as a trombone.

It can go lower - the osbournes are coming back.

John Logie Baird is turning in his grave.

You can't get cheaper tv than this garbage.

you have never viewed bbc3 then.

^ you should care. Because whilst this dross is being aired, writers and actors are being ignored. The future of true arts and culture in this country is at great risk. More and more tv programmes are being aimed at the lowest common denominator audience. Quantity in numbers viewing, seems to be valued over quality.

I LIKE IT AS WELL ,IM NOT BOTHERED THAT THEIR AIMING IT AT ME,BECAUSE IM ONE OF THE LOWEST DENOMINATOR AUDIENCE IM GLAD THERES SOMETHING FOR ME THAT I LIKE

ps I SO WISH THEM GAY BOYS WOULD WEAR SOME SLIPPERS , I FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE WATCHING THEIR BARE FEET

All this country seems to do is create cheap garbage tv and buy US imports.

people watching people watching telly. not for me.

Each to his own, but I love it.  It is funny.  All of the people in all the families have their own personality and sense of humour.  After watching a few programmes you learn about the people and it makes it all the more enjoyable.

Yes, it isn't really 'real' - but I don't really care.

A lot of it is quite touching and heartwarming, too.

A real indication of the level of the mind in this country.

Facts, Gogglebox is probably on for about 20 hours a year.

It is original and unique.  As light entertainment goes, it is good fun.  A shame that you and some others don't 'get' it.

How much of it have you watched?

How many hours of television is there available, across all stations, for 'true arts and culture'.  Tens of thousands.

There are plenty of other more worthy candidates for your rancour.

I agree. Citizen Khan for a start

That posh couple are great, she use to be married to the actor Bob Todd

facts is a racist

Good luck with that comment

The two black ladies are great as well,
The two gay blokes are friends of a friend, ( a right laugh) allegedly,
The posh couple( as I've said,) I believe she was married to the actor Bob Todd, and he was
Knocking about with the actress Rita Webb, when he was younger

I like gogglebox. It's moreish viewing. Scarlett (girl in the north east who watches the programmes with her parents), makes me laugh. Several others are very good too.
Old Leon and his mrs - I lived just round the corner from them for a few years. The Gay hairdressers from Brighton, and the 2 black ladies are all good value. And the boyfriend who never speaks and his girlfriend's German stepdad. I'm not so keen on the posh couple.
My feeling is that it is quite 'real' but it must be heavily and carefully edited!

This and the occasional foray into Come Dine with Me, are my only reality TV watches.

The two gay blokes are amusing but they're a bit Dumb and Dumber. The one on the right is thick as sh!t.

A bit like the Royle Family, then Which was also great TV, Imo

Don't like the gay pair tbh, the one on the left is too cutting and nasty, one on the right is doesn't add much
Like the black the women on the left, one one the right not so much
the old fella in liverpool who sits in a separate red sofa to his wife is quite amusing, casually came in the room walks past his wife whose about 70 and asks her what colour knickers is she wearing is it the blue ones I like the blue ones

think scouse bloke is called leon.
very enjoyable programme and can depend on what programmes is being reviewed , the comments re the treble sacking on the apprentice were spot on. also x factor comments ( I don't watch t ) but blindngly obvious showing the unfairness of the competition as the boy ban that got through were flatter than Holland.

Sid Saddiqui is brilliant, too.  So dry.

Judy Murray was on and getting loads of stick and he said something like 'she's somebody's mother'.

Went over the heads of his sons.

The families are very often prodded to give a certain reaction, the production crew is in another room in the house, these families are basically acting, albeit mostly ad-libbing. Prime example is the "Don't tell him, Pike" reaction, they were all basically pissing themselves at one of the lamest ond overplayed catchprases ever. Never would happen in the world.

*Disclosure, Mrs M is involved in the show (and most others on C4).

Agree with most of that Ken but i dont think they need prompt the posh couple, no doubt most of the people on the show have some sort of acting background, bit like no deal.

Didn't that programme show (without warning) some horrific animal cruelty in Vietnam? If so, why? Please ask Mrs M, Ken.

Think it was dogs from what I was told.

She's more concerned with what are fairly blatant product-placement issues, Milk Tray, Apple products, also etc.

Found a discussion on it, horrific by the sound of it.

Why no warning.
Still having flash-backs since the Vietnamese dog footage,Why was it shown without warning? I understand its a subject that needs world wide attention but we wouldn't have watched Googlebox(My whole familys favourite programme)had we had known this was to be featured. We are not in a "good place" at the moment and other people must be low and watching it for the lift it always delivers. My Dad has recently died, and in our continuing grief we all watch ONLY Googlebox to escape for a moment and to share a common interest which always raises a smile. This time the programme caused distress and uncontrollable crying from our animal loving family. An apology should be made prior to this weeks start.

was HORRIFIED to see you show those poor Vietnamese dogs. I felt physically sick and upset - this was meant to be light-hearted entertainment? I'll think twice about watching again.

Animal abuse
Was in tears watching goggle box on Friday night after you showed them poor dogs. It was horrible and distressing to watch I had to turn over. I thought gogglebox was entertainment TV instead I was left traumatised! Will not be watching gogglebox ever again!!!

Gogglebox
Horrific scenes regarding the dogs on Unreported World. Gogglebox is always a lighthearted, funny start to our weekend. Sadly Fridays episode wasn't. I had to turn over & told my daughter not to watch. Yes this does need to be reported on as it was on unreported World, but not to spoil a nation of dog viewers viewing on a Friday night. I've always loved channel 4 but you let me down in Friday :(

Can't sleep for thinking of them poor dogs
I'm so upset at the awful scenes you showed of them poor dogs. Since seeing it i can't get the images out of my head. There was no warning! If I wanted to see it I would've watched the programme myself. I'm utterly disgusted & disturbed by the whole thing!
Amanda 9:08am Mon 13 Oct

Aye, and who sits there watching telly with a selection of Nestle treats proudly fanned out on a plate?

yeh, animal testing.

although they made an announcement recently to improve things.

The dog thing would have been upsetting for many people, and, there should have been some warning.

It is pretty obvious that the viewers are encouraged to react in certain ways.  Anyone, but dullards would realise this.

Also, they clearly don't sit there all week with cameras running - they must fed some highlights programme.

can't believe nobody mentioned the reason most of you lot watch it - to drool over that stunning young brunette   (the one that sits beside her gay/camp brother)

funny you say that Platini, but since the last series I was surprised how she has blossomed, whilst the young girl in the other family [sits by her mum on end settee] has shall we say, regressed .. -

all in 6 months ish too ...

the quiet/camp guy is nobbing her

good spot Platini.

I recently googled her and noticed she has been doing some modeling

so we are not the only ones to notice this

Watching this for the first time.  Didnt need Ken's post to work out they are at least being prompted if not fed lines.  I'll sit it out but doubt I will watch it again.  No one so far has moaned about how sh1t what they are watching is.    Sainsburys first ww1 ad was just on and they were all getting weepy and sh1t good free advertising for them again.

The German guy is funny

Posh couple been on another channel 4 programme 3 in a Bed,took me ages to remember where i had seen the living room before.

bit too cynical rob dylan, it's light hearted stuff and don;t think they are being prompted, they are of course paid to take part and told which programmes to record themselves on.

Posh guy makes a good point, all sorts of fun on tv like on IMACGMOOH getting the guy to bite pigs bollocks, if they stuck a bowl full of sheep udders or kangaroo vag in a bowl and got people to bite into them, I'm guessing the usual suspects would be out in droves demanding someone be hung for it!

(Not that I'd bite either IMAC is a ridiculous program that demeans humanity)

watched ionly because noel was on once

whats next people watching tv watching people watching tv , serious wahts the point

BAD NEWS :

the Michael family have been axed ...

no more Miss Michael

Some say Rita Webb was knocking about with Peter Butterworth's Vernon's pools collector.

Jay [the lad who says nowt] has split with his girlfriend, but is still gonna pop round there for the show,

awkward!
