Have Openreach got any competition for doing this ? Just had a quote ,footballers wages spring to mind.

Openreach think of a number and treble it.
 Can you get a 50mm duct installed from the bottom of the pole, to your house, by a local builder. Might save you a couple of hundred. |

do it yourself, lay the cable in a duct to the base of the pole.

The quote is based on us doing all the groundwork,they will kindly drop off some ducting then come along and connect the cable.£20 in the quote is for materials,I thought maybe a couple of hours work tops(pure guess as i don't have a clue) ,queried it and he says a day.Had to pay a £199 survey fee up front which I was told would come off the quote should we go ahead.Now they are saying it does not come off,£199 and he was not there 10 minutes.
Detest these big firms. Looks like it will be going back overhead. |
