Where the immortal words were first spoken - ''here's looking at you sucker.''
Conrad Veidt is in this, he played the Nazi Major Heinrich Strasser. He met his end with a bullet from Rick. Why is it the Nazi are always the bad guys and the ones who kill them are always the good guys? Major Strasser was only doing his job. Veidty cut a disc donkeys years ago, and Terry Wogan used to play it on his radio show: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=By2GcMM48WA |

The film was made at a time when men were men and women knew their place.
And if a wife said to her husband ''not tonight dear.'' She'd go to sleep nursing a black eye. |

The French man Captain Renault was the real villain.
He abused his official position by selling passes to women for sexual favours, and took bribes from Rick to allow him to run gambling in his bar. Yet he wasn't portrayed as the bad guy. Seems a bit racist to me. Mind you we was at war with Germany at the time. I suppose that's as good an excuse as any for racism. |

These old films were ok at the time, now they look very dated with unrealistic dialogue.

Erm, yes, what else would you expect? ![]() Just watched the coloized version of this today, not as vivid as I had been hoping, although 80s technology wouldn't have been as good as it is now... still worth watching though, Ingrid Bergman looks fantastic in any colour ![]() |

I saw a colourized version of the original King Kong recently. Wish they'd leave them as they are, personally.
