25 UK millionaires each also winning a private island getaway.

Ridiculous. Those 25 can afford to buy their own bloody private island getaway. Why not make it 25 UK millionaires with 25 others getting a private island getaway as a prize?

50 people happy instead of 25 happy and then a little bit more happy.

No, I do get the point of marketing to make people millionaires, it is a magic number to get to. But I'm not buying it that people are saying "ooh, I'm not going to bother this week - I'm not that bothered about becoming a millionaire...what's that...they'll chuck in a free holiday too? Oh go on then".

Whereas 25 runners up prizes of a swanky holiday if you don't win a million is another reason to have a go at it.

What's more the lucky £1 million winners and up to seven friends will also win a two-week getaway to Makepeace Island, a heart-shaped hideaway just off of Australia’s Sunshine Coast.

Looks like it'll be an additional 150 people benefiting from the getaway prizes.

Tried registering online for the lottery a while ago, can;t find me on any database, I've only lived here 7 years, have to print off a form and send in proof of identity via post, how old fashioned, wouldn't accept a scanned photo of a utility bill

After considering the holiday prize, I'm almost glad I didn't win a million quid.

A fortnight break for eight people. It sounds like something devised by a new graduate trainee, fresh out of Oxbridge, who has not thought through all the practicalities.

For a start, how many people of working age even have half-a-dozen mates who can drop everything at short notice?

Would you want to spend fourteen whole days with the wife's sister, her drippy husband and their ill-disciplined kids? Boxing Day afternoon is bad enough.

More subtly, paradise resorts on tropical islands are not cheap, even for incidentals. It's all right for you because you've just won a million quid but your guests haven't, so either they scrimp and save by doing without the champagne and lobster breakfasts, or they are made to feel like they are imposing on you, or they fly home to a massive credit card bill for what was supposed to be a free holiday.

Thanks for that Ramruma. You have made me feel ecstatic that I only won £7.90 and £2.80 last night. Thank god I didn't scoop the million and have to go through the holiday nightmare with the in-laws. I really hope none of the winners tries to swap with me.

Incidentally, they do get your hopes up with their emails titled: 'News about your ticket'. I wish there was an option on your account where you could say that, for wins under a certain amount, your email could be titled 'News about your ticket, but don't get too excited'. I always think, for just a few seconds, I might have hit the jackpot only to find I still need to find a few pence to even buy a four pack of baked beans with it.
