Had a visit from a Labour member who was campaigning for the Labour representative.

Apparently it`s a two horse race between UKIP v Labour.

Labour leaflet says `Don`t Let UKIP take control of our police`

Racial tension v child abuse it`s a tough one this!Crazy

Dont vote for the one who will cover up large scale abuse for fear of being called racist. There are probably already tens or even hundreds of thousands of victims due to this attitude. Racial tension is inevitable when one sector of the community behaves in such a way. Lets get it out in the open and sort it out once and for all.

Well this is democracy for you Dotch, the two horse race( well it`s a 4 horse race but two horses have all but been pulled up )

The Labour chap is an ex Parish Priest - big on forgiveness is my guess.
If the UKIP chap gets in, well it could heat things up around here.

tbh I do not recall UKIP saying much about child abuse until the Rotherham scandal. It just looks like political opportunism.

Did you know about it?

Did UKIP know about it?

Labour certainly did.

It was the Labour council which commissioned the Jay Report which revealed the almost industrial scale abuse.

Don't think they had much choice.  They had been covering up their 'friends' activities for some years but it was eventually forced out in to the open.
Report Ramruma October 30, 2014 12:23 PM GMT
Call me naive but I do not think that is what happened. It was more that no-one had joined the dots between what had been seen as isolated incidents.

LABOUR VICTORY!!!!

The ex Parish Priest Alan Billings has been voted in as the new Police and Crime Commissioner for South Yorkshire.

In a mist of child abuse neglect, UKIP still can`t garner enough trust!!

14.88% Turnout around 51% of the votes for Labour. So around 7.5% of the electorate voted for this new Labour Police and Crime Commissioner for South Yorkshire. Where are the UKIP supporters? Surely this one was in  the bag! I thought they wanted change!
Report mafeking October 31, 2014 3:52 PM GMT
hardly anyone bothered to go and physically vote. around 80% postal votes

Large percentage of postal vote for in areas with lots of asian voters who dont wont want anyone looking to closely at their activities. No wonder labour won.

dotchinite - Labour have really got the postal vote sorted - they are very very 'organised.'
You can get 10 postal votes out of one address easily.
Report Dotchinite October 31, 2014 5:04 PM GMT
Yes indeed even when there is only one resident.
Report pandora1963 October 31, 2014 5:05 PM GMT
Labour are far more popular in the area than UKIP are. UKIp haven't a cat in hells chance of gaining a safe Labour seat up north ex year.

Parish Priest & Police and Crime Commissioner, these 2 things dont fit together
Report berto77 October 31, 2014 6:41 PM GMT
Today is the day the concept of elected Police Commissioners was effectively sunk.  If no one could be ar5ed to vote given the circumstances of Sean Wright's resignation it's unlikely they ever will.

I wouldn't say easily.  Every voter is now checked against national insurance records.  Roll stuffing will be difficult now.  The most common form of postal vote fraud is legitimate voters - usually Asian women - signing their postal vote statement and letting someone else fill in their ballot paper.

UKIP missed the boat here, i saw no campaign. How outraged where they regarding the neglect of Labour over the Rotherham scandal?
