I think this is like the bulb I bought recently from Tesco.

Philips 105W Eco-Classic A-Shape BCBulb.

The one I bought was equvalent to 95 watt,I think.

It was still to I bought a lower wattage one.

Can't  see what I'm typing coz the friggin' smiley panel is in the way

Thanks, around 95 watt is all I can find. I like at least 150 in the kitchen which I used to have without any problem in the old style. May have to get a new fitting with 3 bulbs in. Will highering the flex make much difference, got about 6" which could cut away?

The 95watt was horribly bright. I hate bright bulbs. It seemed more like the old150watt.

I imagine that highering the flex would make a difference but don't blow yourself up!

6500k is not watts related. It is a measure of colour rendering. A high figure means daylight(ish) light, as opposed to the softer 'warm' light used for normal rooms. Arts, crafts etc places use high k lights to show colour better.

But 325 watts output is enormous unless your kitchen is the size of a penalty area.

Bloody hell. £20 for a lightbulb. It's not bayonet otherwise I may have bought it.

I think they're spotlight aren't they? I just needed an ordinary bayonet bulb to make the kitchen brighter. Got a Diall energy saving bulb, 2285 lumens. £9 to me with my 10% off.

I bought one that won 15 to 1 twice and

Kenny, there was a program on some months ago about how the clever "suits" part us from our money. It claimed that the first instance of built in obsolescence was created by bulb manufacturers who deliberately put thinner filaments in bulbs to cut down their life span. seems to me the wheel has turned 360 but we are still paying through the nose to these barstewarts.

I always thought bulbs lasted years when I was a nipper, foxy. Don't ever remember Mum saying go get us a lightbulb. Dolly blue, sticks in the mind though, oh and some Ever Ready razor blades for her corns.

Can't remember the figures quoted but it was something along the lines of 18,000 hours reduced to 13,000 hours usage.

Kenny I've just remembered going to the "corner" shop to get a mantle for the gas light as a kid. and that was in the 50s!!! they cost tuppence. BTW we are the same age. did you have lecky in your house you lucky búgger.

Yes, never knew gaslight.We had an inside toilet too. lol The old outside toilet had been converted into a shed by my Dad who I can't remember, used to keep my bike in there,and sacks of coal got dumped in there which I used to bring in when neede.d  No telly though till 61 when I was 12.
