I think Reeva supported her parents. She was all they had. They are heartbroken.

I'm cynical as well, writing a book wouldn't be on my list of priorities.

Would you still play poker? Life goes on they've still got to survive.
|

By:
I don't...play poker, but if I had the money to do so I certainly wouldn't be taking 340 quid a month off my daughter's killer, nor would I be attempting to cash in through interviews and books. It's not the UK but it's not Burkina Faso either.

What would they get out of it by refusing
They would only be punishing themselves I am sure they feel great anger towards Pistorius...but nothing can change what has happened I think we have to let them come to terms with it they way they think is best Not everyone deals with this in the same way But I take your point clungehungry..it is a fair one |

It just smacks of profiting over their daughters death, maybe I'm being too judgmental and not knowing the full circumstances.

Sparky, these people are heartbroken but have no money. We've all got to eat.
|
|
By:
Maybe they take it as Pistorius's way of saying sorry...hardly worth a daughters life
I am sure they are grieving What has happened has happened. |
|
By:
They relied on their daughter and maybe made sacrifices for her career when she was younger. They are old now and they've lost everything. I'm sure it's not all about money but they also need to be practical.

I don't really know their situation - a different country. The amount of money just seems so small, less than a third in total of what they got for an interview. I'm perhaps being ungenerous. It's just nobody seems very...sorry. Yes we all have to live but are things really that bad that taking 340 a month from your daughter's killer is really worth it?

By:
Yeah I know what you mean.

Only £1400 for the hitman off that other girl. Dewanis wife. strange place.

I see Reeva's mother gave an interview in the Times today
She said it was bad luck Reeva met Pistorius..as she thinks the 'volatile athlete' would have killed someone sooner or later She also describes Pistorius as 'pathetic','moody',gun-toting' and 'possessive' She rejects Pistorius apology and version of events but admits 'he is the only one who knows the truth' I think it is needs must as hitman said One has to remember S.Africa is a much more violent and basic country than we are... People have to accept the realities of life there. |

By:
I think the cost of living in South Africa is much less than here. Last time I had dealings there, admittedly several years ago, it was about a factor of 10, so £340 would be worth a lot more in real terms over there.

I guess that's right. I read this morning their football captain had been murdered in a robbery. Sounds to have been a great guy. The presence of relative wealth against poverty will always cause trouble, not that that excuses his killers or has anything to do with the Pistorius case.
