A lot of the people named have a talent for being successful although a lot depends on how you define success. Cilla Black would be my nomination. A very lucky lady.

Youngest daughter went to see Lee Evans last night, with her partner and his parents.
She didn't believe me when I said I never heard of him.
Checked on You Tube (as you do) and I can confirm I never did.
The audience must be on something, as some of the tickets for one venue started at £111.00. Now that is comedy at it's best.
They paid all that money, and the first four minutes was them all doing enthusiastic overhead clapping.
Out he came in the style of Norman Wisdom and they were roaring with laughter already and I assume that, laughter being contagious, they would belly laugh, none stop, for the rest of the performance.
All I can say is that I'm glad she didn't pay for the tickets (at least she said she didn't)!
She just said her sides are aching still.

Lee Evans isn't a new comedian he's been around donkeys, and I don't find him funny either, it's all face pulling and Norman Wisdom schtick, a very acquired taste. Lee -Mack- (a bit younger) is very quick and funny. There are plenty of younger very funny comedians. It's not an age thing.
And talking of talentless and loaded: Russell "here's a random big word, that's all I've got, THAT is the limit of my talent, are you impressed yet?" Brand. Nobody ever said the world was fair..

Foyles war, yes. Good comedy is relatively timeless? There's a reason why Life of Brian and Laurel and Hardy and maybe even Stiller/Ferrell will still be shown in 50 years, and "My booky wooky" will be long forgotten and the amassed works of James Corden won't be on an aspiring comedians watch list, and it's not the year it was made :)
Although having said THAT I do remember in English at School the teach trying to explain Shakespeare jokes to us, and .. well .. I didn't really find them that funny, sorry.
Shakespeare's another, no talent and made a good living, up to his rough in filthy loot he was!

It's all just a matter of opinion. All the people mentioned are talented, it's just that some like them and some don't.
For example, I'm sure many people like Picasso paintings. But to me, they are meaningless rubbish and I wouldn't pay two Bob for em, let alone 2 million.

many of the "stars", journalists, presenters who "work" for the BBC. Got in there through contacts, nepotism. Fleecing the licence payer. Huge list if I started but here goes ... actually a lot have already been mentioned, funny that we all know ...
those 2 tarts who do strictly chris evans (not even worth a capital letter) top gear children jonathan (whooo, aren't I funny and quick witted (NO!) ross some of the useless women on BBC News 24 (can't even read autocue very well) oh, I give up.

Id assumed this was a without Russell Brand market. Saying that he has got funnier recently although I think people are laughing at him rather than with him.

Brand is acting the **** lately. Trying to convert himself into some kind of comedy political commentator who must be clever because he is a liberal leftie.
What's worse is the BBC are giving him a public forum to spread his **** by inviting him on news night. I have no wish to see Brand on newsnight. I want to see people who are actually important in this country. All these stupid government conspiracy theories regarding 9/11. He's gonna end up as a David Icke Mk 2.

David Beckham. Changed his hairstyle a lot and got noticed. This attention-getting ruse also used by Claudio Cannigia, Carlos Valderrama, Marouane Fellaini.

Haven't read the thread so apologies if anyone else has already made this point. If someone has little or no talent and made a good living out of whatever they do how can they be described as a mug? Surely Joe Public who encourage, and ultimately pay them, are the real mugs.

james corden. chris moyles. chris evans. russel brand. james nesbit - whenever these guys are on the tv I dive for the tv remote and turn it over.
Being left in a room listening to any of these people on a tv would make me give up state secrets to hitler.
