Was plagued by these, to the point that I simply switched off the ringer on my land line.
All legitimate callers have my moby number.
Occasionally I am sitting here when the remote sender on my desk is flashing so I know I have an incoming call.
A quick 1471 and post into Google invariably shows a scam call.
Today, however, I had a call that may have been legit, so I called back with number withheld.
The recipient was a private number, and I checked, and he confirmed, that the number I called was his.
There is no doubt that I had misheard the number from 1471 as it was quite clear, and repeated and verified by a friend later.
So how can this be?

I was speaking about this with people the other day, have these calls got a lot worse recently?
Certainly seem to have for people I know, often international so can't see the number.

NEW SCAM!................they say there from your local curry house "name it"..............U pay (by card) for loyality card which gives U various discounts...............
oh right, that sounds much more fun, especially if the lovely chick is there.
