I did a thread about this a while back.  Matchstick men is an awesome song.  Now I like quo, in their own way.  A good fun band with some nice catchy tunes.  But they never acheived the heights of matchstick men again, nor did they even appear to try.
Report kenny mann • October 22, 2014 9:43 PM BST
Francis wrote it on the bog, Rob. Terrific number.
Report kenny mann • October 22, 2014 9:44 PM BST
A lot of their songs were very catchy imo.
Report call me a taxi • October 23, 2014 12:33 AM BST
'Matchstick Men' only got as high as number 8 in the UK chart.

'Down Down' got to no.1 and 10 others charted higher than no.8

They have also had 4 no.1 albums, and another 8 in the top 5, but my favourite album, 'Piledriver', only got to no.2

The Irish like them. Happy

'Rockin All Over The World' only got to no.3 here, but made no.1 in Ireland.

'Rollin Home' only got to 9 here, but made it to no.1 in Ireland.

'You're In The Army Now' got to no.2 here, but made no.1 in Ireland, Austria, Germany and Switzerland.

I'm always curious about Quo fans age
I'm 32 and love them. Was brought up listening to the from my dad's old LP's. Years later and you'll find me listening to Quo several times a week.
Was on Twitter when they did the accoustic set on Radio 2 / Red button, was amazed at the amount of 20 somethings tweeting about them and commenting how good they are. A lot of them were female!
Report Burton-Brewers • October 28, 2014 4:43 PM GMT
they span a fair old area of time. I didn't get into them until the mid 70's, and they had probably been going longer even then than many of todays turns

They day you see me head banging to a Status Quo song I hereby give you all permission to shoot me in the head.

I usually go here on a Sunday, not far from Forster Square.  http://officialpubguide.com/pubdetails.php?pubid=7431
Report TambourineMan. • November 2, 2014 8:17 PM GMT
Only went in there a few times but it looks like a good place even today,
Used to go in the Boy and Barrel up Westgate...not sure if its still going.
I also used to go in a "modern" pub at lunchtime right in the Square....can't remember the name now....It must have
been levelled when the Square was demolished.
Report kenny mann • November 2, 2014 8:35 PM GMT
Boy and Barrel still going. Rough and ready as it always was. Not been in for years but I've passed it often and heard the krapioke belting out. City Vaults is a fine pub and has jazz on Sunday with some fine guest singers.Trying to think of the pub in the Square. You mean by the City Hall presumably. What years were you in Bradford?
Report TambourineMan. • November 2, 2014 8:56 PM GMT
1970/73.
When you came down Godwin St.you would turn left into the Railway Station....just past there I would turn left into
Forster Square where I worked in  a High Rise office tower. There was Cafe at ground level along with other shops
including an Adult Movie theatre.....looking across from there towards Norfolk Gardens was this pub.I might have got
the location wrong after all these years.
Report kenny mann • November 2, 2014 9:34 PM GMT
Godwin St is the wrong location, that is where the CO-OP was . I remember the adult movie place. Think it was called the Cinecenta and the Tie and Shirt Gallery was a bit further on on a corner of Forster Square. Replace Godwin St with Manor Row with the famous Midland Hotel on the corner. Norfolk Gardens is a good 200 yards away near the other railway station. I think you might mean The Queens pub?
