In an amazing breakthrough a 38 year old Bulgarian who suffered complete severing of the spinal cord can now walk with a frame , resume an independent life and drive a car after sensation was returned to his lower limbs. Nerve supporting cells taken from his nose created pathways for connecting tissue to grow back. The technique was developed by a team at UCL's Institute of Neurology and the operation was carried out by a Polish team led by a top spinal cord expert at Wroclaw Medical University . Definitely a game changer this one.
A 'good news' story for a change and whilst it's not a 'stem cell' technique, let's not forget that, as a rule,American Republicans are opposed to such advancements in medicine.
