TV actress Lynda Bellingham, best known for playing the mother in the Oxo adverts, has died.
Bellingham died "in her husband's arms", her agent Sue Latimer said.
The 66-year-old had colon cancer and last month said she would end life-extending chemotherapy treatment.
The actress said she wanted to spend one last Christmas with her family.
Her starring role as the mother in a squabbling family in the long-running Oxo TV adverts was first screened in the 1980s.Sad

She was doing TV less than a fortnight ago and while she didn't look great I didn't think she was only days away from death. It's very sad because I thought she'd get her wish at least. RIP to a tough lady.

I never knew she was born in Montreal.

Her grandparents were strict Jewish and her mother's pregnancy shocked the family. She was taken from the family and adopted by an English couple when she was young.

'Liked a drink', which may or may not have contributed to her downfall.

Nonetheless, a nice woman.

R.I.P.

Quite a role model for other terminally ill people, there are many like Lynda but she got to highlight it.

RIP

There seems to be a huge outpouring of public grief, and, yes, I know it sounds churlish,
but I've no idea what she actually did, career-wise, (to gather so much adoration and love).

Anyway thoughts to her family and friends
Report pandora1963 October 20, 2014 1:47 PM BST
she was in the oxo ads for years, all creatures great and small for years , and many other roles
Report Poppydog. October 20, 2014 1:49 PM BST

I know about the Oxo ads, but they are just adverts
I've never seen ACG&S

Poppy

Lynda was a national treasure, through boyhood dreams we wanted her to be our best friends mother. She was genuine, honest about her faults and made a roast to die for.
Report mafeking October 20, 2014 2:18 PM BST
had her own sitcom second thoughts with james bolam and julia sawalha in the early 90s which ran for a few series

at home with the braithwaites too

she was a proper actress. not sure why only the oxo adverts ever get mentioned
Report Angel Gabrial October 20, 2014 2:19 PM BST
^Because they are more memorable mafeking.

Everyone remembers them.

I'd have joined her in a roast in her younger days.

I was in tears watching Lynda on Loose Women but it was a lovely uplifting interview and very funny.

I thought the compilation of clips at the end of the show was a perfect tribute to Lynda.

I wish I went with all the respect she got

In that last interview with Janet Street Porter, Thingy Nolan and Lynda Bellingham,

They start off talking being late for meetings and how Lynda hated lateness, Janet Street Porter had been late for work that morning and suggested if Lynda had been there she would have given her `that look of death`Shocked

Yes, she was in a lot more things than people realize, Make my hay. What p1ssed her off was the fact that she'd always be remembered as the Oxo Mum.

Not sure if we can say pissed?
