It was proper grim that. One guy killed 4 people in a fight, another killed 8 women.

The life of those convicted before 1996 and on death row got a 25 year sentence in the colony - those after 1996 got full life in solitary - the pre 1996 lot were living in a holiday camp compared to the others. The governer seemed just like one the prisoners - just as much a sadist without a hint of compassion.

No tvs in cells for them not even allowed to lie on beds during daylight hours not like butlins there. It was eye opening in that allof them accepted their sentences
