Five minutes ago this geezer was praising unlimited immigration now, ironically, he gets applause for highlighting the fact you cant get to see a doctor. The two are connected mate

Talking about the NHS now. This week I have taken Ma to King's College Hospital for appointments.
First time which was on Monday, a two hour wait only to be told that they couldn't see her as there were a couple of emergencies. She was there for a cataract operation, she can't even read a newspaper now but it was deemed not important enough.

This morning at King's, got there at 10.00 am for a 10.30 appointment to see if they will take the pins out of her leg as she can't walk more than 10 yards as things stand and is in constant pain. Waited til 1.00 pm then got fobbed off with someone who had never seen her before and started referring to stuff that had no relevance to her case. Got sent away for another appointment in two weeks, the ward was completely chaotic to say the least. A very frustrating week to put it mildly.

I didn't read the thread properly g2d, I'm just in a right paddy about what happened with the NHS with us this week but especially today which was a very bad experience.

I have a bloke who has Downs working in my  garden about 6 hours a week in the summer. He's a lovely fellah but to be fair he's not much cop. If I leave him alone he either stops work and stands there  in a reverie or knocks on the door to  ask me questions and hope I'll make him some tea.I pay him £25 and he is made up as he thinks its a proper job.If I had to turn him away because I couldn't pay him £40 or whatever it should be under mw he would be gutted. Its not just me he does a few gardens  in the village

Ivor, the hospital was in chaos. A patient was discharged in complete distress and hadn't been seen after 3 hours of sitting in a chair in complete discomfort only to be told to come back another day. Same age as my Mum about 80 but she had nobody with her and she was crying. What an horrendous day it was seeing all this stuff. I hate going to hospitals but I have to do my duty as there is nobody else that will do it.
Report Dobbo October 17, 2014 12:19 AM BST
Hearing allthis I can see the benefits I get living in the sticks.I could phone my GP in the morning and get an appointment tomorrow or at worst Monday. I had a cataract done in January and it was done on time and quickly (its an op that can cause problems Slippy).I have a heart check every six months and always get seen on time. I am so pleased I moved out of London

Report SlippyBlue October 17, 2014 5:24 PM BST
Don't tell me you had a few shekels on that thing? I couldn't have backed Berkshire with stolen.

Ivor, the topic at the time was the N.H.S. and I was just venting my spleen on my recent experiences with that organisation.
Report Ivor October 17, 2014 5:30 PM BST
Yes I see and you had every right to do so.
My frustration was the valid question re the NHS and the impossible position the MP's were in.
Thought Jeremy Hunt talked all around the houses and did't get anywhere near to answering the question
- and even worse, Dimbleby let him get away with it!!
No politican could answer honestly in this case - or it would be career ending.
Ivor knows the answer - but most are loathe to discuss it for the same reason.

Thank you, guiness2dear for the link. My reading is that Vicky Pryce was out-manipulated, and I couldn't wish a short corrective in Holloway on a more shrewish person.
Isabel is currently writing a biography of the PM, I read, and Lord Ashcroft has a finger or two in the pie.
